I was looking at the Nitro 11 parts sheets and both the 340 and 440 are shown to have VM32's.Anybody have an idea what the difference is for internals between the two.Jetting, rods and slides. The 440 I have has a newer set of carbs with the large mouth possibly 34's. Not sure. The 340 I have are originals and I have some parts carbs that may be usable. Thanks Kerry

Kerry, I was looking in my 75 Nitro fan engine parts book and it gives you what came stock for jetting in the 340,440, and the oil injected Kohler motor's. The 340 has as follow's main jet 270, pilot jet 35, needle 6DP1 (NITRO ll) 75 has a different part number 36171, throttle valve 3.0, needle jet P-2. The 440 has as follow's main jet 340, pilot 40, needle 6DP1, throttle valve 3.0, and the needle jet P-2. I'm not saying this is fact it's just what my Rupp engine parts book says they came stock with. Hope this helps. Clint

Kerry, I use NGK BUE Surface gap, but I think some use NGK BR9ES. I have good luck with BUE's. Clint

340 main even on 440 seems big unless you leave air box off . I think 440 can run 270 with air box also !Outside temp makes a dif also !

OK. The 340 I have came with the exact stuff as stated Clint.I just went thru both carbs today and it runs like a friggin dream! magnumal, the spare carbs I have for the 440 came with the #40 pilot jets and only 320 mains.I want to put the 32's on it(As in VM 32's not 320 mains as it may have been misconstrued!!).I think I have a problem on the mag side.Put a lot of gas thru it and that spark plug is dry.I have compression when i pull it over but I havent got a gauge to check for sure how good.Thinking a possible seal.I do have an intermmitent spark prob which I believe is one of the wires coming out of the block. It is cut and may be just cut enough to cause problems. Both motors have the Hewtech CDI so I'm going to use the 340 as the testing bed for the electrics of the 440.Once I get that checked I will rejet the carbs and stuff them on the 440 and give it a go.Thanks Clint I am going in the right direction. Kerry

Does the 340 have air box on it ? You need to get wiring fixed before you kill cdi box it doesn't take much !I think 320 main is good for both without box it might not run as good with box you can go down to 270

magnumal I have and can install the airbox. But with these temps its rich enough for starting and running.I'm no where near being able to move the machine under its' own power or even spin the track for that matter. The clutch on the 340 is REALLY rusted.I think it's a comet-has a smooth round chrome cover. Not sure what the right puller is.I have a bunch of rupp clutch parts in a box and a clutch on my other 440 to raid.I also have a 102 on the 440 I'm trying to get going.I really just need to see that the 440 will get consistent spark so I will try the cdi first on the 340 if it goes then I'll try the individual coils and so on.If I get into it I'm sure if the seal is bad on the mag side it will be apparent once it is open. Use the air box and run 270's in it.

Well the cdi from the 440 is not working.Could have been me or it could have already been damaged and I finished it off.Too bad it is a Hewtech. I have a Prestolite I can try once I go inside and check the stator and trigger for the bad wire and see if that seal is leaking. Both coils are good so I have 4 good ones that I know of. Kerry

Sorry magnumal.I don't think I get your drift. At this point I was just reporting where I was going.Unfortunately I only reported the obvious of what you said after the fact.Maybe if I was aware beforehand I might still have a second cdi.I'll never know now.I only start the 340 to test what I have to work with so I can apply the good stuff to the 440 and get it going.Once it is going I can pull it,start the rest of the work on the sled and put it together.I guess I could have started another thread to continue along the other stuff but it all ties together.I do value any info you guys share. That's why I'm on here. You guys have been there and done that,I haven't. Sincerely Kerry
