Now there's a nice Rider. If Steve rides that he will end up having a new sled in his garage...

Got a different backup sled for our crew at the Longriders Relic ride at the Jackpine Lodge if anyone would need one this time. Not mentioning any names View Attachment Now that's a nice sled Glenda.......I'm still shell shocked from last year.....I might have to trade mine in on that one....It's someone else's turn isn't it....or maybe we will have to leave the back up sled in the trailer..

Sent from my SPH-L720 using proboards Ed, I think all the Magnum needs is crank seals, if I could find a 72-73 nitro track in OK condition, I will put it back to an original restored 71 Magnum...I'm working on Glenda to give up that Rally.... Then I'll have 2 Mikuni carbs...

What else could it be Rick, the only way the motor idled properly is when the idle jet was out about 3 turns, I had a rebuilt Tillotson HD119A originaly on it, then I put a NOS Kiehnin carb on it and it did the same thing....the seals are the only thing that was not replaced, I will be having it checked out as soon as the motor comes out when I get some time...

It's the carb..... If the seals were sucking air it would act up from idle all the way to WFO. Besides as long as you have run that sled if the seals were bad it would have burned down by now. Hell it's your money spend it how you want.

Steve, you should have kept the new 76 nitro, brand new 76 Rupp on the relic ride in 2015, how cool would that be?

Ed, I would still have the 76 Nitro if it weren't for getting laid off a few years back.... I Needed the money to finish of the 56 Chevy truck....The 76 Nitro was worth to much to take on the relic ride....

Steve, I would take a reliable sled and just thought how much more reliable can you get than new. I've been on the ride and made a portion of it on a 73 arctic cat ext 340. The trails were choppy and it beat the crap out of me and the sled. Put a liquid Polaris 440 in that magnum and you would be all set. I sent you an NOS carb, did you use it? If not I can buy it back. Good luck I'm sure Glenda will take along a tow strap.

Ed I did use the NOS carb from you, I put that on after I tried the rebuilt HD Tilly carb, the IDLE jet on both carbs had to be turned out almost 3 turns to keep the motor a proper IDLE, so maybe Rick has another NOS carb I can try ?....

Well Ed, I took your advice and now I have 2 Mikuni carbs for the relic ride this year, I found on the 71 mag motor that the intake gasket had Shiiiit out, that's why the idle issue , the magnum is literaly on the shelf for now and fixed, not a good relic rider, just for show, ( I'm still looking for a decent track to finish the resto...(ANYONE HAVE A DECENT 72-73 NITRO TRACK THEY WOULD PART WITH?) now I have a new rider......... OH and your right Rick, It wasn't the seals...............
