Question, I'm not sure what the 77 ports look like, on the intake, with the ring accross is for 77 model? For 76 should have no ring accross? With ring accross performs better than 76?

You seem to be having a bad streak with those Xenoah engines. Put a Tohatsu FC in it,less problems. Good luck.

Well I know but if I get em right and should run good and I like to keep it stock not swapping it to fan, I do love tohatsu fan and they are reliable I have 5 sleds with tohatsu and I still ride em a lot. For this 77 nitro I do really like the way the sled looks and performance. I like those xenoah because it very strong and fast. Keeping it stock always great than swapping anything else otherwise not worth any I think.

Put a Polaris 650 triple in it and call it a day.

Put a Polaris 650 triple in it and call it a day. . That's what I was thinking (well not a poo triple) but something newer and faster and just more fun!

Yes, more fun, more power, cheaper and easier to find parts for.

Well I think I'll start looking for an another crank, that crank might be too much problem in it. :S I'll wait to take the bitten assembly apart first.

Update: I took the crank apart and took it to my buddy aurthur shop and he looked at it and said that crank house where the rod hitting looks funny, what u mean looks funny, he look really close and said looks like a piston skirts mashed, stuck (looked like welded onto the crank housing), so he grabbed his small puncher, punched it out and came off. Now the motor turns free!!! So yea piston skirts snapped off and went into crank and rod grabbed and banged right on the housing, I thought the crank was bent and I couldn't tell the skirts was stuck in there. Cool I feel better woo hoo!!

Okay not in woo hoo time yet lol I pulled the pto cyl out and noticed that skirt is cracked and luckily didn't snapped so why it keeps brittling and breaking? Can I cut it off and grind it off smoothly to make nice and big hole?

Like the left piston (no good) and so I thought about the missing skirt, grind all the sharp point and make looks like big open so can i do that for the right piston plus will do same as if I find good used piston for prevent to have a skirts failure?

I wouldn't recommend it. I've seen it done before but I just wouldn't do it. Them pistons that you have there are the old J&L Sales ones. Lots of piston failures I've heard of. This happened because the holes are made too big. I had one fail a couple years ago in my 440 race motor. The other piston looked fine but I retired it. They last even less when the bore gets too sloppy and the piston skirt slaps where the windows are.

Hmm okay I like the j&l sales because I like big ports for good air flow into it but not strong. So the new one are smaller and still performs well as joe did? And also I see the new ones side port above the rod is smaller. Just wondering

They are great pistons but they just don't last as long as ones with smaller windows. I replaced them with the same pistons. After these are gone that's it. That port you are talking about isn't a port. Material is taken from there to reduce weight. Has nothing to do with performance.

Okay cool so what about the piston with L rings on it?

I think at this point, while you have the whole thing apart rebuild it with new parts. Have the crank re-built. Have the cylinders gone over.
