Attachment Deleted roads are little greasy today,, so i thought i would get some office stuff done. including taking the MAGNUM for a little spin and wipe down. probably should get back to work... we don't have a lot of snow but what we have is perfect conditions for the Rupps. Have Fun!

You very funny man. Ed didn't help me on that one. It was an 800 to start with with bogie suspension. Motor went to a good home. Only took 10 yrs to get it together.

Johns 600 was sweet when I sold it to john, lots of NOS goodies. I seen the sled a little over a month ago and it's a dream. He went thru it head to toe. So he bought it from me but did a lot of work to make the finest 600, or any 71 magnum in the country!

Thanks Ed I seen his sled and is very nice. I'm sure yours are the same. Dan's is nice also. How many do you think still exist? I am very aware of how long it takes to make them look like that. Reason why I wouldn't critique anybodies work.

Real 600 magnums are few and far between. My guess is around 15 or 20. What makes it real? That is a question that you will get a bucket load of answers from owners of these sleds. I have a 600 that the tunnel is not usable on show sled. And I won't, I do have it along with the hood I won't use. Now is it real if I use a wide track tunnel?

Tom, I was not trying to be funny, simply asked a question. I was surprised you felt it necessary to bring Ed's name into this. I did in fact purchase my sled from Ed. I dealt with two clowns that outright lied to me about the completeness and correctness of their 600's. I met Ed through a mutual friend, and after some phone calls and alot of E-Mails I purchased a sled from Ed. The sled was a beauty. When fifty or less of anything is ever made, it is hard to find one so complete. My intentions were to build/restore a 600 to "as delivered" from the factory condition. Ed's sled had more N.O.S panels, parts, etc then I had ever seen. I gutted the sled down to tunnel, removed the bulkhead and started from there. I can go on forever with what I did, and what parts I added over a years time, but I will spare the details. That sled is what it is today, because of me. When you posted your "eye candy" picture to a board full of pro's, you must have expected some sort of reactions, good or bad. When you enter your sled in an original category, at a national show, that is deceiving. That takes away from my real one. You might not agree, just my opinion but if your sled does not have the proper parts it was built with, and left the factory with, you need to portray it differently. Your sled is very nice, but a transplanted motor does not make it a 600.

Just a little jealous of that Magnum Mike! Makes me want to start my 71 sprint restore, I'm sick of working on 74 and newer! I have some very neat plans for the 71.

Thanks Kyle. I like working on 71's and 72's the best. The 73' and newer skid style suspensions are easier to work on though. This Magnum was done by ruppman, not me.

Its a very sweet ride for sure, always loved the look of the 71 Mag, I have an original 71 Mag 400 N/T hood I'm using on the Sprint, I have some neat parts to use on it as well. Not building a racer or a show sled, building kind of a what if twin carb twin exhaust 71 Magnum/sprint 340, just to ride and have fun with. Going to put a 73 tr340s in it because I prefer CDI. Some may not like the mish mash of parts and years but I really want to build a unique sled for myself.

It all boils down to 1 thing everybody's entitled to their opinion. I'm having fun with my Rupps and love building and working on them. In the grand scheme of things it means nothing to most of the population. This real and not real debate could go on forever.I consider my sled to be as real as it gets. Being I gave up an 800 to make a 600. Alot of people wouldn't agree with that either.I did make sure the fellow that bought it did the right thing and he has. I feel good about what I have done and that's all that matters. Amen

I remember a time when none of this mattered. If a Magnum owner polished anything,it was the intake and exhaust ports. Fastest mattered most.

Hey nice sled hope your having as much fun as i did. View AttachmentA little eye candy is in order. Easiest way to hop up an 800 was swap in a 600 Tohatsu. The hard way was to use every 2-stroke trick in the book on the Hirth.
