Its not very cold here. Its still in the thirtys. Its gun deer season here this week. So I'm trying to battle this stinkin ear infection and sinus infection to get out in the woods. I almost pulled the trigger 20 minutes ago. But it will live to see another day. My plans were to play with the dyno this week. I can't see more than 95 HP. I need better pipes that will spin more R's. I don't even think that shortening up the head pipe will speed it up much. Hey Ed.... do you have any Sno twister pipes that I can borrow ? PLEASE ?

There's reproduction liquid twister pipes available now!
I'd try a set of open mod pipes from a 440 rotax before I'd go with old technology from a piston port engine anyway. I don't know if Crank Shop or Jawz makes an open mod pipe for the MXZX 440 LC. That's what I'd look for.

Sno Twister pipes aren't done yet. I know whos building them. He hasn't gotten back to me yet. Sno Twister pipes are very good pipes. As much as I dislike Sno Twisters I've heard from so many people that you can't build a better pipe than the pipes that they had already in 76. Do you have any contacts for them companys or do they have websites Do you have a sety of twister pipes to borrow me ?

I called crank shop today. I don't recommend that place to anyone. I was talking to one of the tech guys to see if their 440 race pipes may work on my Rupp?? I told him a few numbers and he said yes they should work. They don't have time to build a set for me til this summer !! I also told him that I could send a set of the rupp pipes to get the angles close so they would fit in the chassis. He said that wasn't necessary because theres no way that would work. I'm really getting frustrated with these pipe places.

Josh, heres a suggestion. Friday after work load the dyno and the sled and the extra engine and head to michigan. Ed could bring those pipes he has and we could meet at Jim's shop. If anyone out there can modify an existing set of pipes, Jim can. You can try the merc pipes, have Jim adjust your pipes and see beautiful St. Johns, Michigan. It is nice and cold here and we have a fair amount of snow. Just a thought.

Sounds like a good idea. I'm game for that. I have enough pipes laying around here to try we can wear that dyno out!
I'd have to bring the Merc too! That would be a shame if the bone stock twister churned out less HP than the modified Magnum, but still whooped it in 500'

Thanks for the offer but I don't have time to run to michigan. I wasn't impressed with our set up so the dyno is put away til I get a water tank and a transfer pump out in the shop. We had to run about 50 feet of hose fro the house. Now the faucet is froze up. The Magnum is ready for the ice now no more time for play. Now I have to build a 250 Xenoah for my dad for my bro to oval race. Ed bring that POS twister to Wisconsin this winter and we'll put some money on it.

Ed bring that POS twister to Wisconsin this winter and we'll put some money on it. I'll do that.... At Waconia. Hopefully you bring enough money to put up to make it worth the effort of draging out there. This is what fast looks like, bro. not pretty, just fast!

Definately not pretty !! When is Waconia ? I'll have to see about that. I think last year drags were on sunday. Hey Ed.... you really should paint that Twister Black or something. You might as well put up a pic of a wheelhorse. I can't tell the difference !!

Josh, I would like to see you run at Waconia again, your stuff is getting faster every year, time to measure up against the best, the drag racing competiton at waconia is like what the the eagle river competition in oval racing.

Paul, I don't remember seeing you the last time I was at Waconia. It has to be 6 years ago if not more !! I never went back because I didn't have a place to test. That race is too far to drive without knowing how fast I am. Thats why I've shyed away from there. So far I only have one winter of testing done on my sled. Last year was a complete loss because of such heavy snow that it pushed the ice down. Hard to test with water on top of the ice !! I really want to get a whole weekend in on the pond this year. If not more. This snow just sucks !! I must have a good foot of snow already. I know theres still alot of room for improvement. But I still did very well last year at all the barnyard events.

Josh I never tested my 73 nitro until the last 2 years and I always took a sound 2nd with it and the first 2 years it was running against Trail Twisters. Even after 2 years of testing it still can't pull off a first. I hope this year will be different

Dale, I really can't answer that question. Back in 1989 it was all done by seat of the pants, I got a timing system in the early 90's and right after that the 15 year ruling came into effect and drag racing really died off. I raced that sled till 94, sold it and went trail riding for the rest of the decade. Back when we got the timer it was 660 feet today it's 500.
Last year the trail twister I won "D" stock with at waconia was on the lights the day before for a few passes, and my times on my timer were between 7.0 and 7.12 in 500 feet. Dan Westaby's waconia cup winner 72 nitro will turn 500 feet in the 7.25 range on our timer. The 250 liquid merc will pull 500 feet in the 7.45 range.
Last years trail twister is now strictly an oval sled, there are some handling things that I learned on the liquid chassis that I was very pleased with so I am adapting them to the trail twister. So for drag racing this year I dug out the trail twister that I restored a few years back, took out the engine that was "for show" and slapped one together that is "for go"..... At this point, the sled is ready for testing but Eagle River is 1 month away so the oval sleds are fueling the brain for now.
