Yesterday josh and i went down to the castle rock outlaw drags, took the 440 fa, 76 magnum(darth), and the 440 stock fanner, we got in 4 classes each, and went home with 7 trophys, 3 firsts and 4 seconds, had an srx, 4 twisters(liquid and fa), a 71 800 blizzard, a gpx and some other vintage stuff there, but we mostly raced against alot of new sleds, pretty funny when their jaws dropped cause they just got waxed by some old iron, it was a lot of fun and the adams county snomo group did a great job, p.s. yeah the 440 fanner beat the pants off the 71 blizzard(775cc twin cyl fan cooled, twin stinger pipes with silencers), thought i was screwd, but we really woke that toilet up last week. Yeah it was a really great day !!! Some minor problems on my magnum but I'll get it figured out. Scott Kaul showed up !! It was the first time since 3 years I've raced him. Well not going to BS you guys he still had a very small edge on me. I would of had him if the track was 5 more feet long. But if I wouldn't of had some problems I would of had him. Freakin bog came for the finals. I think it needs more fuel on the bottem end. I'm also going to gear it a tooth down. It was great to finaly know where I'm sitting against his Twisters. 3 years ago he half tracked me. Luke got 1st with the 440 fanner in Vintage Fan Open. 2nd in Vintage F/A 440. 3rd in Vintage L/C 440. And 2nd in 500 Stock. I got 1st place in 500 MOD. 1st place in 600 MOD. 2nd place in Vintage 440 MOD , and 2nd place in Vintage Open MOD. I highly recommend this race to you all next year. There was a butt load of vintage classes. But there were alot of empty classes.

Congrats guys! Nice to see the Rupp's do so well. I know it takes LOTS of work/tuning to get them to go that fast. Keep up the good work. Tom

Paul are those ign. pretty bullet proof, would i be better probably just buying a complete new setup from gpi, just hate to buy used then in a year have it go out or something, looked like 190 bucks new from gpi.

Feb. 14th and 15th. You won't like this, but the vintage will be run on Sunday the 15th. (likely this year only) due to a schedule conflict. Congrats on the win guys!

Luke, The prestojunk ign. was such a pile in 74-76.... so when John Deere speced kohlers in there stuff in the late 70's kohler had updated to the nippondenso ignition. I don't have any thing bad to say about the denso set up other than the prestojunk has a hotter spark, this I do know for a fact. I have told you many times that I run the B9EG racing plugs these are fine wire plugs and I never ever fouled one out with my used nippondenso ign. and I am running the elcheapo $57.00 gpi cdi box. I would contact the guy and see what he wants for the ign.
The last straw that broke the camels back with me and the prestojunk was on my 75 rupp f/a. I went to start it up one season and no spark, diagnosed the stator was bad, checked the 4 extra stators that I had, 2 tested good 2 rested bad, I installed a good one started the sled up, dollied it outside, warmed it up on the stand, let it come back to idle and it quit, no spark again, as soon as that stator warmed up it developed an open circuit on the low speed winding and gave me the same problem I started with, that was it I was ready to strangle the bastard that designed this pile. The prestojunk cdi boxes are unreliable, the hewtech ones are good, but the prestojunk stators are very unreliable also and for what it costs to buy, a hewtech box and a nos or rewired stator you can buy a whole new nippondenso set up for less money, not to mention a used nippondenso for way less. I know Bill Stull was running the denso ign. in his kohler powered 3-d.
Screw the testing this weekend, bring your stuff to waconia, the nitro II can run d stock for the waconia cup, lets see what you guys got. Waconia is my only drag race of the year, and the best competition will be there, The reason I go is to have fun and see how my stuff ranks up against the best stuff out there, win or loose I go to see if I still have an edge on the competition or not, if not thats fine, BUT I KNOW I'M EITHER THE GUY EVERYONE NEEDS TO BEAT OR NOT, IF I STAY HOME I COULD ONLY SPECULATE HOW I'D HAVE DONE. Win or loose this is the race you need to be at to see how fast your stuff is.
Sorry for the lecture, Just venting my feelings. Paul

It's great to see the old red beating up on the newer stuff. Rupp had it together back then and with all the enthusiasm about them today they still rock!!!! Red Rule's!!! Nate
