What pole # tach is correct for a 75 Nitro 440 F/A. I picked up a NOS Rupp tach a couple years ago at a swap meet that was supposed to be for a Nitro F/A (so the guy said) but it has no pole # printed on it.
I was doing some testing yesterday and the tach seems to be indicating accurately until the engine gets over 8000 rpm and then the needle flutters around even though the engine is pulling at a steady speed and hasn't clutched out yet. At clutch out the needle is fluttering between 8000 - 9000 rpm. The old tach that came with the sled when I bought it as a basket case doesn't work at all...has 4 pole printed on back. Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated.
