Bill,Thanks for cleaning up my Magnum,I.never got that clean. When you called this week that you had it all restored I thought you might have some pictures on this site,The pictures reminded me of all the changes I made to the engine & balkhead the gussets behind the spindle tube, the twin fuel pumps.the moded cooling & rerouted water into the head and by the copper head gaskets rerouting the water in the cyls. The OEM water pump was the same as used in the Chaps @74-7600 RPMThat engine runs @92-9300RPM the water ran thru the sys. too fast, thats whay I slowed the pump down with pump pully,Istill have some of those pullies. Also the alum. wrist pin spacers between the rod & piston, multiply the difference between alum. & steel x 9200RPM ,it will blow your mind,I don't remember the number,I'll look in my log .I have some of those left also,.I did the same on my Nitros, only in reverse, speeding up the fan.cools much better.I will enlarge the pictores you said you would send & post them in the shop.I have anouther track off that sled but one band is torn. You did a very good job, Thanks. Jerry

hi jerry, yes thank you for sellling me a cool piece of history. when i got into restoring it i saw some of the gussets you welded on it for saftey and strengthening the factory aluminum bulkead. hope your not mad i took all of them off knowing that this sled would never be put on a race track again. now it looks like it did when it was brand new from the factory. there are so many cool things on this sled, that if rupp would have done this on all of there magnums the racing effort would have been a whole lot diffrernt outcome in 1976 thats for sure. i have already weighed the sled and it is amazing how light it is. i am not going to post the weight yet, i will let everybody guess what the weight is. the sled is all done and i will be posting some new pics soon. i'll be talking to you soon again jerry. thanks for all your help and history. oh ya i also got ahold of steve johson!! b.s. 171

Here is a very cool part of the sled. It is the only hood I have ever seen other than in the brochures. This sled originally came with this style hood. When the sled crashed during oval racing, new glass had to be ordered and the glass that came is the conventional glass that we see on Nitros and Magnums today. Take a look at the under hood vent, how different it is. b.s. 171
