My grandfather had an old rupp dealership in Eau Claire Wi in the 70's. In the las five or so years we have been doing a lot of collecting and some racing(with the help of Elvis). Its kind of an addiction that my wife will never understand. The two action shots were at ER in 2003. The first race I finished 2nd right behind that arctic cat and the Final I was leading the whole race up until the last corner. The picture of me in from of the sno jet is the back stretch of the last lap. I lost it on the corner, went of the track and came back on to finsh in fourth. When I finished, the skis were so bent that the inside edge was the only thing on the ground. The other two shots are of more recent projects. The 440 sno pro i raced very little this year and the 295 magnum is actually a trail sled that I built, it has a 400 nitro motor and a new polaris track under it.

Thanx, for sharing. It seems just about every one i have talked to has one thing in common with Rupps. That one thing is family. There is so much family history and the stories go on forever. This is a bond that makes this site so special and professional and holds trash talk to a minimal. I wish i could sit down someday with all the GREAT people who call this site home and just take in the stories. There are other sites out there but most have a sled of there choice, not a sled with history of family ties. I dont surf the internet. I only come here or check rupp related items on ebay. I feel i have made some great friendships here even though i have never met them. I will be going out to see Jerry Kelly soon and i will take my camera with me to get some good shots of his rupp collection. I will be going on a vintage ride this winter at Berncliff N.Y. with Jerry and his uncle. I was at his uncle's house yesterday. I was out his way for work and dropped in. He (Al) has about 6 rupps and some history as well. I was checking out his "71" magnum 400. Al went in the house and came back out with some news paper articals about his Rupp racing days and PROUDLY showed off some pictures.
So what did you all think of Brandts summer ride. The Chevelle in the driveway makes a great back ground for your desk top LOL. Well keep the stories coming. I love to read them and keep the slide show rolling. See Ya. Dave

I like this site as well! History is the most interesting thing I feel, about old sleds, cars, bikes, and etc.. Some people hear one thing about that this is how it was put together or how it looked or what it did or whatever, and believe this to be the gospel. But when you have worked with the sleds back in the day they were built and then talk to another former dealer or buy one that was in the barn for 30+ years and you see the different parts or decals used. Or find out that they had different companys that made the parts for the same sled and even look different or one worked better than the other. One thing that we did at the dealer ship I worked at was, if we were short parts with an order, we robbed a different sled or ordered parts we could ealily get to finish it. We got kits to change over the 72 Yankees to a 73 with just changing out a few parts or adding others, thats why the 73 Yankee flyer says "See your dealer". Heck we even spruced sleds up just to sell them. We put a black center hood panel on a sport, slides under a Yankee. One dealer put a Rally seat on an American. I even own a 72 American with a 73 tunel sticker that was put on in 73 because it looked better. You find out from others when talking to them that things were different from what you knew too.
I have learned alot in the past 5 - 6 years and a whole lot more from the Rupp message board! And I like how you guys are willing to answer questions no matter how small they are
