I'e got a 72 Yankee, 40HP that I can't get started. It's started easily every year until this one. I got it running a month ago but it took a lot of pulls. Now it won't. I've got compression of 150 in each cylinder. I have spark and gas going to the carb. I have a Tollitson carb and am assuming it's that. Is there something else I should check before pulling and rebuilding the carb ? Thanks !

make sure its not just massively flooded, did you try a couple new plugs just for the heck of it, see if they are wet

Thanks. The plugs are new and weren't wet when I pulled them. I tried spray through the carb with no firing either.

I finally had a chance to take the exhaust apart. It was clean. When I pulled the rope, there was a small amount of gas spitting out the exhaust ports but no firing. Any other ideas by chance ? Thanks for the help!

Sounds to me like its flooded! Dry it out! unhook your gas line from the carb. and start pulling! after you get it dried out, only use spray gas to fire it back up!

Thanks. I'll give that try. The carb was rebuilt about 18 years ago. Is it time for that again do you think ? Like I said, it's ran like a top for a long time.
