Ok finally putting my f/a together and ran into a something really weird. The sled I got the front clip was repaired and had a flat plate on the bottom. So I bought a couple other chassis and picked the best clip for my my sled. So I put it on and its narrow, I mean narrow, here is a clip that is the same width as 2 others I have now I have several of all the front mount sleds l/c nitro2 f/a and this as you can see is definately an f/a clip. so I looked at it and my buddies, this is not something someone made. The bolt holes that hold the chaincase on are also slotted about and inch to adjust belt deflection. cCheck the spot welds on the top plates, I dont get it. All I know my new panels dont fit. The sled the clip came off was a wierd one. It was raced to death and had a short tunnel with some marine dealers decals on the sides. Guy I got it from said Tom Harnisch (sp) raced it in new england back in the day. what the hell is this thing? now I need another clip.. grr.

Looks like the spindle tubes were moved in and the extra cut off.

well I think I do. I bought one off a guy on vintage sleds that showed up yesterday and the "nice rust free clip" was absolute junk. I mean someone cut the clip to get the driveshaft out and the front is reinforced with angle iron. So sending it back today and hopefully i get some money back though I know I'll have to eat shipping. Oh well. I have another clip outback I think is pretty good I'll have to pull it out. PM me what you want for a clip. what do you think the deal with this one is?

That is funny "front is reinforced with angle iron", I have heard that a few times lately. Ya know Tom H. is on this board, maybe he can answer any questions you might have about the sleds history. I believe he goes by RUPPMAN

The narrow front clips from what Iv,e heard was for enduro racing. I seen it a few times also having different lower panels. The idea I think was to make the chassis sronger for the longer term races. As for the angle iron that could be mine. I added those pieces after breaking a couple bulkheads. Also needed to strenghten to the outside spindle. Keeping in mind what the rules would allow. That's what I know about it.

Anyone got any info or pictures on these narrow sleds. If its not that different I guess I could put one together. I checked the rest of the clips I have and they would take quite a bit of work to get them in good shape as my second best clip is bent. SO if anyone has a clip for sale please let me know. Prety much all the parts are powder coated and ready to bolt on. New pop a top F/A sitting on bench as well.
