I have a spare Tillotson 13A from my Sachs 340R project. Could I use it with the Sachs 340SS going into this Nitro? Should I?

Going to rebuild the 13a this weekend. Took off the seat. I'll use it (with its nice deep padding) for the one lunger 100. Thinking of using a Wahl bros light weight drag racing seat for the shorter Lemans race, hoping lighter = faster. Hydraulic brake has arrived. Ditto the new side panels and track drivers. Handle bars will be heated and bent outwards, then bar end extenders added. Figured it would be stronger to do this than cut off the handle bars and weld riser and new modern bars. Might cut a hole in the hood to allow more air flow around the Sachs.

Wow that looks good!! Who did your seat? Funny, I was looking at the same SS decal last night, almost ordered it.
How does it handle? What muffler/exhaust did you go with?

Attachment Deleted Haven't had it in the snow yet. Joe built the sled. I did the seat. Sounds like half a Nitro.

Ok, so the 295 twin cyl engine from the Nitro fired on spray before we removed it. So . . . if someone needs the engine, pipes, hood/windshield or seat let me know.
Bill Stull is sending a new lightweight racing hood and seat. Track is studded. Hydraulic brake is ready to be used.
Working on the heart transplant. Rebuilt 340 ss is ready. Need the correct center to center. Do we use the Rupp engine plate in its current position and drill holes for the Sachs or use a Sachs 340ss engine plate from a Skiroule and find a way to mount it in the Rupp ? ? ?

REALLY need some help . Need the center to center and offset to use for a Sachs 340ss.
If you need a 73 Tohatsu 295 twin that runs plus exhaust or a near perfect seat or a perfect cowl let me know.

You must use the 1970 or 1971 center to center for the single cylinder motors Rupp used. I will get that to you. Also Rupp made a alienment tool which is about a foot long and cut out on each end. Your best bet is to find a Sprint 34 with a 340 Sachs single. I have 3 of the 73 Nitros converted over to Sachs Singles raced them for past 10 years and have yet to blow a 1060 belt.

Attachment DeletedMark, Just eyeballin it without removing the clutches looks like center to center is 10 1/2" and offset is 7/16". Here's a pic showing the motor mount set up for the Rupp single bangers. There is no belt deflection adjustment with this set up but if you elongate the holes where it bolts to the cross pieces you would get a little movement. Hope this helps. Any more ? just ask. Joe

Joe and Glenda You guys do the NICEST work! I don't think that sled looked that good the day it left Mansfield....
What/who are Elan skis? I'd like to put something a little better than stock on the 440E I'm finishing up. Found a NOS track for it.

Steve, Elan ski's are short steel ski's off of a Ski Doo Elan. They fit this sled well as it has been shortened by about 4". We've nicknamed the sled "Shorty". They probably wouldn't work too well on your 440.

Would a nitro II be to heavy of a sled compared to the 73 nitro to race in the single cyl class.
