I'm sure there are a few of you on here that own a 740 GTX or have worked on a 740 GTX motor. From what I've been told crank seals are non existent. Does anyone know the size of them or know where to get some of them ?? The 740 F/A motor is totally different I've been told.

Not much interchanges between these motors. Crank pto end needs an adapter to use a snowmobile clutch. The free air crank can be used in the fan case but a two piece spacer is needed because the fan crank center section is smaller. Iron cylinders are unique, the intake studs are aligned vertically although adapters could be made. Heads are unique, fins line up with the air flow from the twin shaft-mounted centrifugal fans. Interesting to look at but a bad choice for snowmobiles. Anvil-heavy and easy to cold seize. I bought Greg's leftovers but there were no cooling shrouds or fan parts.

Just about got it down to the crank yesterday. Had a bear of a time getting a wrist pin out of piston. It was stuck on so bad it turned the bushing in the rod end. Got that pressed out and put back in so the oil holes lined back up. Hope to get the clutch popped off today.

Josh, SKF's online catalog has a page for CR (Chicago Rawhide) seals, plug in the shaft and bore dimensions and hopefully get a part number.
