Has anyone took the block mounted fuel pump off there 340/440 L/c's and adapted the vacuum port to a barbed nipple fitting to be able to run a regular style fuel pump? Mine has a brand new fuel pump and with out a primer ball and a little shot of gas it will not start. Once it fires theres no issues with it keeping fuel its just when you initially start it. My 440 and 340 both are having this issue. By the way its running now my 500F/a Tigre would eat it alive.

there,s nothing different internally between the two pumps, either your block mounted one has something wrong, maybe check valve seats are damaged or your crank seals are shot, most every engine I take apart that are that old have seals that have delaminated , unless yours have been changed already I woun,t try to get one running with out knowing those seal are good you,ll just go in circles and ruin a lot of parts

I dont think I have any crank seal issues, if I did when it ran I would have other issues like idle an all the other fun stuff that comes with bad crank seals. I dont seem to have that issue, its a fueling issue.

Do you have a fuel pick up in the gas tank ?? It should have a check valve in it. If you take it out make sure you can hear it rattle around. Also make sure that your choke is opening correctly.
