I have an idea that i need a 36mm carb, flange adapter and cable, however I do not know what size jets to use. can anyone shed some light on this? Maybe someone has all the goodies I need and is willing to part with it? I will probably have to use the spacer that is on there with Mikuni so it will clear the coil... Attachment Deleted

I canthelp you with jetting but I'd recommend a 38 or is your class limited to a 36?

Do you know what needle jet and Jet needle you have in the 38mm. I will check with Art Templeton, he is local salvage yard and has lots of vintage knowledge. he is the one that recommended the mikuni. The engine has been tuned by ruppman and is making 190 compression. will that make a difference on jet selection/sizing?

You will also need a throttle block from a '75 or newer Rupp sled.

I would start with 400 Main jet and work my way down. It's always better to start big rather then burn down.

I put Mic's on my Yankees. I just took a rupp carb from a 75 nitro. I used the stock throttle setup from the sled. I took the brass off the throttle end of the cable. Rounded the end of the cable that went into throttle lever because it wouldn't flex and broke the cable. Then I just bent the throttle lever out a bit to give it full range. However I found a crome lever that looked similar at a swap meet that fit and was for a Mic and was bigger than the stock 73. When I find it it will go on my 72 nitro. My carb cleared the coil cover barely so I don't know about the 400s-3.

1st start with a single carb cable as the multi cables don't have a big enough end. Cut off this brass end. I used a dremel with cut off wheel. Be careful you don't hit the cable and frey it. Then round this end to a ball so it rocks in the stock throttle lever otherwise it will break the cable. if you bend something back and forth it will weaken or break. Then I bent a old stock throttle lever enough so when pressed wide open the carb was also wide open. But as I said I found a vintage large chrome lever. It looks like a stock one that will fit bar and then you shouldn't have to round the end or bend the lever. I just cant find it as of right now Oh, I also used mic choke cable. just took off cable clip and used a tube clamp to hold it in place. Hope this helps you out! Tom

We ran good except poor turnout caused a grouping of all 400's Pre 85'. Not really fair. I would expect the same for this weekend Supposed to be record low temperatures. I wanted to go to Bear Brook. Good luck racing! Maybe we'll see you there

Hopefully see you on the 21st. This Sunday will be 9 degrees with 20 MPH winds. I hope to be at Bear Brook this weekend, and near a wood stove.

Vintage show. 30th Anniversary NH Snowmobile Club Would have been big event however I fear that the weather will spoil it along with most activities this weekend. Big storm coming Saturday night into Sunday, along with record low's and high wind. Bummer! we have all this snow and you can't enjoy it.
