The 340 Nitro I recently acquired has a metal coolant pipe running around the inside of the tunnel! Anyone seen this before? Just an idea that the original owner had?

Based on track wear, it must rub a bit on the left...so, I may have to do some McGyvering before trying to ride it next Wintet!

Yes, Guy I worked with use to run thin wall copper tubing around the inside corners of tunnel when he raced his 76 and 77 Z's. Said it worked quite well with very little weight gain.

I think if I can get myself another inch of clearance, it should be okay...it also looks like the tunnel protector strips were removed at one time...so I think I need to install another pair of those!

If your worried about it over heating I added a Polaris heat exchanger under the running boards of my '77 nitro it never even comes close to heating up. Way easier than trying to get more clearance.

Not worried about overheating...just kinda wanted to keep it this way, since it was a cool mod that the original owner had done...

we have a 76 nitro chassis here that someone did a nice job of running 1/2 inch copper plumbing in the tunnel for additional cooling. It is old and corroded at this point but, I think was nice back in the day. When we got this sled it appeared to not have the cooling bumper on it. The bumper plumbing was hooked to the tunnel cooler.
