Picked up what I think is a '70 Rupp today with bogie suspension and a Sachs 340 single with an HD tillotson. there are no graphics on it, but has a pinned hood (no hinges). It has a single sprocket drive (track in great shape) Any idea what model this is. (havn't figured out how to post pics here yet or I'd post a couple of it)
This is my first post here although some of you may know me from Hardcore Sledder and SledNH.com. I started with Rupps back in the '70' with a "72 440 Nitro and a 295 Nitro both of which I enjoyed racing back then with great success. Also had a '73 Magnum 440 for awhile. got away from Rupps for a long time and got back with it by racing in a Vintage Racing series here in New Hampshire. We have a three race series which is open to fan stockers only '73 and older with single and twin classes up to 440. Lots of fun for not a lot of money.
Started racing a '73 295 Nitro and that led to a "72 Nitro 340 and two '73 440 Nitro's. You guys should have a thread on what to do to treat the Rupp Addiction!LOL!
Nice site! good to read what others are doing and how!

Pathfinder-does it have hood vents? If it doesn't it would be a Sprint 34. If it does it could be a 340 Magnum, that can be verified by looking to see if there is a wedge shaped piece welded in where the bulkhead and tunnel meet. If it has it it is a Mag chassis if not it is a Sprint. Hope this helps. Joe

Joe Thanks for your response! No hood vents! I guess this makes it a Sprint 34. Whatever it is I was amazed at the condition of the hood, belly pan and tunnel. It's all in very good condition, except I think the seat has been re-covered and could be better. Anyone have a pick of what original is suppose to look like? Is this the stock motor and carb? (340 Single Sachs with an HD Tilly') I 'm hoping to race this in a vintage single class but want to make sure its stock in its current configuration. Were sprint 340's made in one year or several? I was told this one is a 1970.
Thanks pathfinder

I'm pretty sure the Sach's motor is correct. Not sure about carb size but would guess the HD is correct. They also made a Sprint 34 in 71 but it was a twin CCW I believe. Joe

It sounds like you have a 340SS or a 340C both are high output engines. I don't think the 34 sprint came stock with these motors. I should say on the motor tag what morot it is. SA340, SA340SS OR SA340C will be on the tag if it is a 340 motor

Close inspection of the motor tag indicates its a 340 ss motor. Is that also the name of the model?
Thanks guys, that a big help! I have had lots of experience with Rupps '72 and newer but never had to deal with anything of this vintage. Doesn't appear anything has been changed on it.
Any pics of a restored one or decent original?
