Here is a photo of the humble beginnings of my '73 Clone project. I will be using as many original parts as I can get my hands on. If anyone has parts they can spare, send me a PM or email.
Thanks

Alan, I would say you have a good start for your project. Start putting it together and hit the swap meets, I'll keep an eye out for parts for you as I hit some of the events around here. I love spending other peoples money!

Like Sticks said.. Looks like you have quite a few good parts to start with. This stuff is really drying up !!! I was thinking about getting some pipes repopped but between the setup fee and then having to bend up and weld some stingers and have the pipes turned it would be insanely priced. Oh and I forgot you'd have to make the header pipes also. I'll keep my eyes open for you but I'm looking for some stuff for them also !! LOL !! Have fun putting that thing together. 3 years ago when I redid mine I had a BLAST !!! They are so fun to restore !!! I'd catch myself working on that thing til 3:30 in the morning a few times. I just couldn't get away from it !!!!

Yeah, It's going to be fun. It might take awhile, but half the fun is in the hunt for parts. Besides, I have a couple of other projects on the go, to keep me busy.

Al, why dont you make us a list of things you have or a list of things you need. That way we can all be searching for the right parts. Good luck. See ya soon, any chance some sleamans will make the trip to my place?

See ya soon, any chance some sleamans will make the trip to my place? OK. The main things I'm looking for are Hood, handlebars, & pipes. Most everything else I either have or I have a line on. Our friend in Huntsville has a handlebar, but it's going to be pretty hard to convince him to sell them to me, so I'm on the lookout for them. He will also build me the proper motor if I can scrape enough shekels together. And yes, I will bring Sleaman's.

Oh, I could also use a chassis parts list with pictures, if anyone has one or could copy one. Thanks

There is no chassis parts list with pictures. Everything is categorized and the part numbers thats it. I went through this list many times and have some parts that I have no idea where they go.

This sled started life as a 1973 nitro 340. This is my first rupp. I bought it in 1986. It was completely orignal. I started oval racing and when my daughter got old enough she wanted to try racing in the jrs class. So that when I took this sled down and widened out the front end to the 73 mag spec's. I also dropped the chancase 3/4" for stud clearence. It now has a 121 camoplast track that is fully studded out a 75 nitro skid fame and front driver shaft. The motor is a junkyard dog the topend is a 71 and a 72 jug and a 72 case with a 73 crank, with 72 ram horn exhaust. I do some welding so I did it all myself. I also made a 73 mag aluminum repo gas tank for it. It runs a hex clutch set up by the Rev. and it has a 36 mic. carb. The seat is going to get changed. This seat was for oval racing, My daughter is to small framed to run ovals so we are going to drag this sled. Its a blast to ride! and was fun to build. I'm going to add some more aluminum 73 parts like the aluminum bumpers and a motor plate. It will launch my fat butt across the yard just fine!
