And the winner is.......... Dan Kubista and it wasn't even a Rupp. It was the nicest 76 ALOUETTE SUPER BRUT I have ever seen.
All 8 sleds looked fantastic!! I am sure glad I didn't have to Judge and pick the best sled. A big hand to Dennis, Tom and Jake as they had a very hard choice to make.
Thanks to everyone that was involved with this event as I think it was a very big hit with the whole Waconia event.

Thank You guys for all the work you did on this! All though it was down to the wire, wifey is at the end of her rope, sled would still be bits and pieces, in Tuperware tubs, If you wouldn't have decided to do this event! Great time and great to put faces with all the names, although I'm "Old with CRS and won't remember any, it was just plain fun! Josh, I need to send you a few close ups of u'r old sled, IMHO, she's a winner Rick, of all the different things going on all weekend, the Rupp Build off Corner had the most cameras & crowd gathering for sure.

WOW. WOW. WOW. Those are AWESOME!!! Those are sleds YOU should ALL really be proud of. It takes a "special" kind of dedication to find parts & build those kind of machines. Unbelieveable.

I would like to thank everyone involved for a great showing of Rupp sleds! To be honest, I wouldn't have picked my sled because I built it and the one who builds it always knows it's flaws. That said, I really wouldn't have wanted to be a judge for this build off. It was just an amazing show of Rupp guys builds starting with bare tunnels! Sleds ranging from awesome mid mounts to what I have always had a special place in my heart for, ...3 banger motors!! To all the guys in this competition, you all did outstanding work and everyone should be proud of their machines!
I wanted to also say thank you to Rick for putting on the show which forced me to restore my first vintage sled, for all the nos parts and a very nice seat. Also a huge thank you to Bill Stull for the awesome paint job and finding a good used hood that fit and many more parts! Kevin for an awesome hose kit and xenoah parts. Mike Kuhn of Kuhns specialty fab for all the aluminum welding to fix my skis and the usual busted out tunnel. Extreme powder coating did just an outstanding job coating the parts and ceramic coating the pipes.
I have so many more to thank but the reality of it is, I owe it all to my dad who helped me assemble the sled in only 2 short weeks! It's hard to believe only 2 weeks ago I was finishing buffing the tunnel and brought it over to his garage in about 15 boxes of painted and polished parts that I spent all summer and fall wet sanding and buffing. There's nothing like coming right down to the wire, polishing the skis in the waconia hotel and installing them on the sled in the trailer just moments before we unloaded on Sunday.
Thanks again to all involved from sponsors of the build off to those who helped me in so many ways.

Hoots, I think the grand prize was you all had knock out sleds and everyone drooling over them (me included). Yours was very beautiful and wish I had that kind of a sled. There were a lot of people gathered around and taking pictures.
This is hopefully an event that will continue with other brands each year. But I have to say I doubt it will. I don't think any other brand would be as cool looking as the Rupps!

My choice for someone to follow this gig, luv to see 10 scratch built Twisters, Speedways, or Chappy's. Really dig "What If" sleds with Starburst Heads & that would fall right into those catagories. That 3D was very special in our build off. Must have missed it when it fired, family showed up and wanted a tour of Waconia stuff, missed pictures too I guess. Had too many iron in the fire that weekend.

Again thanks to everyone! Hey Kerry, Bob is my uncle, Gary is my dad. As far as being an alouette, the sled was an original alouette and I really wanted to keep it that way. Rupp built it and it went down the exact same line as any magnum. I feel it's just a dodge / Plymouth thing both of which are chrysler products. As per the rules, it had to have a rupp serial numbered tunnel. I certainly could have badged as a rupp magnum but really didn't see any need to do so since they are the same thing. I also believe it's worth showing something that rupp also built as most people have never seen one before. It's also the only "rupp" I have so my choices weren't meant to cause any stir.
In the end, I believe Rupp was represented very well. We covered a good amount of the models rupp had over the years in just a few guys. Everything was superb guys and everyone should be very proud of their work.
