I too want to thank Rick for putting this together. I'm sure my '73 Magnum would still be sitting in the corner waiting for some attention. I'm already anticipating some changes I'm going to make. I'm so glad I was able to meet all the guys that participated in the build. Dennis...I wouldn't have wanted your job either. It was sure great talking to you!!! Special thanks to our friends in Alaska for the great jackets!!! I am honored to have been part of this effort. Thanks to Bill Stull for the great paint job on the hoods, also Rick for your guidance through this project. It's been a blast.

I'm pretty sure if they hold this event again it's going to be very hard to top the passion and enthusiasm the Rupp community puts into a show. I enjoyed talking to everyone. I would like to thank Ricks Rupps for several parts I acquired from him, my son Ed for the 3D glass, my wife Mary for putting up with me while I was holed up in the garage for weeks , Bill at Intech Graphics for awesome decals, Kevin red19lite for taking care of my fragile Kohler heads. The Alaskan Rupp Riders. Without Jim Binkley, John Binkley, Gene Bloom, Tedd Pierce and Rick Rocheleau along with Rick Weaver this would not have taken place. THANK YOU!

The Grand Prize was what? Dan, I looked back through all the posts, looking for a negative comments that might have caused you to post - "I didn't mean to create such a stir with the Allouette". I sure hope you didn't take my above comment to mean I was questioning your sled? What I was wondering is, was there an award, trophy, kick in the azz, or what ever, given to the winner. your sled was gorgeous and definitely deserving. Like most commented, just a Great Get Together of very talented Builders.

Could you elaborate a little on the motor or is it top secret?

Hey hoots, I haven't taken anything as negative. I know there was some raised eyebrows about an alouette lol so I just really wanted to clarify why I did what I did so that everyone knew I wasn't trying to bring an alouette on purpose to cause a stir. I don't much care for message boards or texting because things can be taken out of context so easily. My goal with the post really was to just clarify the alouette thing before it started into something negative which unfortunately happens a lot lol!

Oh and there was a nice plaque from Rick for the winner with a banner everyone signed. It was all very nice and I'm just still kind of in awe really. I hope waconia does this again, I don't want to do it again haha but I would like to see others go thru what we went through

WOW! Waconia 2015, what an experience. Got home late yesterday afternoon, put my head down and did the Rip Van Winkle. Looking at the posts made since the show, I do not think I can contribute to much. I was amazed at the quality of all sleds that participated. 12 months ago an idea was born, and 8 members signed up, they made a commitment, devoted endless hours to built a sled, and delivered to Waconia. Just Awesome!!! I was excited to be a part of it, I set out with an idea of a sled build, however that changed numerous times. My vision was "simple would be better", attention to detail throughout, that would carry me through, boy was I ever wrong. I showed up Sun. morning and some sleds were already set-up. First we had "TEAM GREENE" and their two customs. It was very obvious the countless hours building and customizing that these two have in their sleds. Next sled I saw was MAGNUMED'S, (over the top) imagine a totally hand built sled from scratch, panels, pipes, motor and countless other parts built by Ed himself, the end product was sick. He hit it out of the park! Next sled to set up was JIM'S 73 Magnum, a super nice, super neat example! I would love to have it in my garage. Jim and his brother were two of the nicest down to earth guys I have ever met, I would like to see him back on the board a little more frequently. Next up was JONSBADCATS. Long, low and in your face piped, triple liquid. Very, very sinister. Next up was mine, it was obvious that I was going to be in the first round of beauty queens to go home. A little 69, with a Sachs single. Next to set up, was HOOTS, Larry had a busy weekend, somehow was still able to build, set up and show his 76 Mag. I don't know much about it, but it spoke for itself. Last to set up was DANKUBISTA, his Allouette was the poster child for "attention to detail" can't say much more than that. By this time I think we were drawing bigger crowds than the actual show field. Now these poor three judges entered the area to judge 8 of the nicest Rupp's I have ever seen in person at one location. Dennis, Tom, and Jake certainly had their hands full. The crowd got a little larger, Why? because now it was time to start these beauties during the judging process. One at a time, each sled (all 8) was fired up. A true testament to each builders ability. The only thing that could have been better, all 8 at the same time. A Rupp cacklefest. As most have done, I would like to thank Rick for promoting our build-off, the gentleman from Alaska for their sponsorship, and the judges for volunteering. What a freakin' cool experience!

Tom Mcruppin, goin' old school with the GTX-340(r) clone... Loved it, loved it, loved it! I had the "two-stroke" hangover on Monday and still can't get any of those sleds out of my head! All were built with great care and they ALL showed it! Definitely the highlight of Waconia for me this year! I didn't get to meet everyone but I did get to meet a few new Rupp brothers and you won't meet a better class of people. Even Carson showed up, great to see him again as he always has a good story or two to share. Thanks to everyone involved... Very cool!
