too funny... the old dyno came from a John Deere dealer. They used to use it to tune thier sleds... they still have some sleds in hiding..... It reads mph and you can load it. Takes aton of math to figure HP. It ran 65mph with a worn out clutch. I put a new 102c on it and it will run 75 everytime

Brian.. I wish I had taken better pictures of it when I pulled it out of the junkyark and the front frame broke off. Starting to work on the F/A. You should see the mint original F/A skis I bought at a flea market. Cheap... Found a nice set of magnum skis too. I'm making a set of stingers for it for something to do. My wife is the best I must say. Trying to keep all this stuff going and fixing stuff up is everynight in the garage. She laughed when I put in cable TV last week!!

Update... The "fan Magnum" ran 82mph on radar!! The bad news is that the same motor ran 86 in my trail twister (with twin endo pipes). I still need to play with it as it only turned 7300 with the liquid pipes, 8000 with the endo's on the merc with the same clutching. Not that bad as with the stock twister pipe the clutch set up will only pull 6900 so it makes a little more power. All in all it goes pretty good!! We still have ice and will for awhile, hopefully I can get it to go a little better. Going to try and tighten the pipes a little bit.. I have plenty of pistons!

Hey Rog: Sounds like you need to shorten up the Rupp pipes a bit to pulse properly for the higher RPM. The rpm directly affects the speed with the same gearing and clutching. Strange that with all else being equal you ran better in the Merc - maybe better pipes was the secret to the Twisters? Nice collection you have, something to be proud of! I would love to get my Nitro on the dyno of yours, it would be a great tuning tool. Good luck with your quest to make that fan Magnum really cook! Wig

Problem with shortening the pipes is that it raises RPM. The liquid pipes are already a 8400rpm pipe on a 6900rpm motor. My Endo twin pipes on the Trail Twister loved 7800-8000. I got to take a little weight out to get it to turn what the pipes should and see if its faster. This summer I'll bring it up to Wallingford Racing (label X) and have him look at the pipes and see what he says. Only 35 min away.

The 250 is forsale... $1700. Sounds pricey, but I've looked at alot of them and this one is alot better than others I've seen. Check the classifieds for more info on it. The sled is 100% except for the skis. There are Rupp skis on it now but they are painted silver, other than that wax it and show it, or ride it.. runs excellent. Time to thin the herd.
