Here is my '71 Magnum 440 at the Lake Belwood Vintage Ride last January, it started out as a '72 Nitro chassis and a '71 Magnum hood...more of a re-build than restore, but more for memories and fun than for prize-winning (my Dad's second Rupp was a '71 Magnum). There is also a pic of me (age 5) on my Dad's first Rupp, a '69 SS GT300 (may have been a 370, he can't remember for sure!)w/ sport seat...a similar one is my present project...progressing S-L-O-W-L-Y!

I don't remember those racing stripes on the SS, were they stock or did your dad add them? We had a 292 with a single cylinder sachs motor in it, very dependable sled. can't wait to see yours when its done! Sticks

Your sled is looking GREAT! It's a lot of work when you tear one of these things down, it looks like your first ever paint job came out pretty nice, especially compared to the original factory paint jobs with dirt, streaks, runs, etc. which are common. The chassis on that sled looks to be real soli, should clean up nice. As far as the chrome is concerned, rechroming isn't as expensive as you would think, you should check it out. I use NuChrome out of Mass., they do a great job at very reasonable prices. Keep going, that sled is going to be sweet! Wig

Yellowlab2, how far away do you live from the gas station? I'd go broke filling all those cans on the shelf!!! ;D Nice job on the sled.

Yeah, those cans just kinda accumulated...about 5 different mixes for: sleds, saw, trimmer, etc...and a couple of "mystery mixes" of old gas that helps with bonfires!

Well, I was about 5 in the pic on my Dad's '69 GTX 340...then he bought the Magnum...I would like to have found a GTX, but I had to settle for for "close" with the GT300...just have to decide if I really want to restore the '67 Oly that I have (that's like we had before the GTX!!), 'cause it's gonna be alot of work!!
