I found an unusual gas tank made out of galvanized sheet metal but it didn't seam to match anything I have seen 3D. It was wedge shaped and large (guessing 3 gallons). I also found a modified 73 nitro skid but it had all steel brackets and no exotic materials. I scoured the place but couldn't find anything else...except a 2 place trailer full of NOS parts.

It has the twin throttle setup similar to a 73 Mag but these bars are normal Rupp bend with the extra cross member and have a cotter pin setup at the bottom where they meet the lower support which is different than the 73 Mag since it doesn't have the wedge at the end. These bars are probably 1/2 the material thickness of a normal bar.

My guess is 73' with the throttle set up like it is. The 74 sno pro used mikuni carbs.

Eddy does it look at all like anything you guys have found? Or is it a totally different set up? The magnesium support is the same. Going to have to go through pictures, don't remember seeing a 3d with the dual cables on one side like the 73 Magnum. I do remember in some of the pix the throttle cables are still welded on both sides of the handlebars even after they went to the throttle block to pull the Mikunis. 72 Mod handlebars would make sense. It would be neat to find out where the stuff came from. Did all the race stuff end up getting parted out and sent to dealers?

Cool that you recognized something that might be one off Rupp, if in doubt, grab it!

Me neither, that close up is very interesting. It's might have been taken with the 340 tohatsu. Look at the pipes. Tedd tested a 340 tohatsu free air during some promotional pictures. Looks like it could have been in that sled.

Crazy that if they did send out the race parts to dealers that more of us wouldnt have gotten some oddball parts when buying out inventorys through the years. Maybe they had a secondary race program for only certain dealers?

I'll bet that some Rupp racers got the good stuff based on their region and success. No program, nothing official, just send the latest goodies to the guys who would make the most of it.
