Question: Are asphalt skis available for my sled and about how much would they run.
Been thinking about what the snow will do to all my hard work. I may get more enjoyment at our local Drag way, as well as seat time. All sleds are equal at the tree. Ive wanted to drag Something nice since i can remember (Like Brandts Ride) It kinda makes sense to me. I could race on Tuesdays and Fridays all summer long. Then i could just use the 74 American as a winter beater. I would not need to register it each season. Clean up would be cut down by 80%. What do you think ? Dave

I went on line to see if i could find some skis, You would be correct when it comes to the cost ! The ones i found were all for todays style. they went from 300 to almost 700. WOW !!! As far as our local drag way, it is only 10 minuets from my house. This is the place that put the "Motor Head" Bug in my blood. I have been going as a spectator since i was 12. I'm not to sure that i am going to find what i am looking for But it would be nice! Any luck with starting your sled Dave ? Mine was firing on the first pull with out any throttle or choke. I want to fire it up last night and after 4 pulls i did not even get a pop. I think the plugs went again. i will replace them this week end. Hope thats my problem.

no luck starting the Alouette yet...even filling the flaot bowls with a seperate feeder line...wont start.
I still have to act on the advice from folks here though. New plugs tonight, plus the point about the in-tank check valve..im thinking that if its stuck closed, despite filling the float bowls, if ive put the fuel lines back on the carbs (which i did) and the check valve is stuck that may prevent any of that fuel from flowing thru the carbs (?) kinda like holding your thumb over the drinking straw full of pop...pop doesnt flow out until you lift your thumb ...
im also not sure at all how and if you time these sleds...since i didnt do the rebuild...i ve got no idea if there's something there that could be out of whack, it may be firing out of time...i have no idea how to check that on this sled...
ive got a week till the next Show, and im wondering if ill have it running or not...

Dave, Timimg is simple on these engines. Place the stamped mark on the base plate in perfect alignment with the center-line of the coil-plate mounting screw(quoted from service manual). That would be on the upper left side looking at it. Hope this helps. Joe
