I was wondering about the 440 f/c that was in the 71 magnum and the 440 f/c that was in the sprint. Both had a single carb and i didnt see any visual differances. So, were there any ? Was the moter i have used as competive? I guess what im tring to figure out is, if i have a good strong motor that will hold its own against other vintage sleds or if i have a just another trail sled. What was the sprint designed for. Is it an old ladys machine? a trail sled? or a trail sled with a little attitude. Its got GREAT throttle responce. It makes me wonder why this sled was only made in 70 and 71. Why was this model not made after that? Was it not popular? or was this sled just given a different name? Any one have any idea on what kinda h.p. this motor will make. The only changes are a brand new short block with double end berings and a brand new upper bored at 10 over stock. The sled it self is only 300 lbs (thats gotta be good) What will this sled top out at in mph? 60? 70? 80?

the s designation behind the displacement meant chrome bore, also the 71 mag and 72 nitro's had finger ports. As far as h.p. i don't know, but the mags and 72 nitro's seem stronger than their counterparts

Hi Dave that engine in yours should be almost identical to my '72 Rally it's rated at 40h.p., mine's a TR 440-2. I'd say 50ish mph ? I can't find the specs for HP on the Mag and Nitro, someone once said the "S" 440 f/c makes about 47-48hp@7250 rpm? I am not sure They ( the S motors) do have a higher peak rpm than the regular TR which I "think" is 6750 I'll look it up and post if I find it.

Hey Dave I think the track is still spinning at 50, with the bogie susp an all I just assumed that speed... 400magnum,Glad you were able to download them specs, sorry I don't have any for the racing free-air Tohatsu's I do have them L/C (1976) specs around here somewhere, soon as I find them I'll post them up. I could be "totally" wrong, BUT, going from memory, if I remember the RUPP/DDI dyno sheet it read... G25-BWR 60H.P.@8300 G34-BWR 70H.P.@8300 G44-BWR 80H.P.@8300 I'm sure the h.p. increase was in 10hp increments, which seemed kinda' odd but you never know. (I could be all wrong ) But I know the 250 has more than 45h.p. ? I remember reading it , I'll be back!
