Can I install a Mukuni carb on the wide carb mount on an American 440? Center to center on bolts is 3". Also, can I take a 340,which doesn't have CDI and put it on a sled that HAD CDI? I'll be using the wiring harness that hooked into CDI. Thanks.

Sure, you just need to get the proper manifold mounting flange for the mikuni and the carb should clamp right on. Don't know about the CDI/points swap, one of the other guys can probably help you with that. Good luck with the project - POST SOME PICS! Wig

You can install a points motor in a cdi chassis there is one more ground/kill wire on the CDI if I remember correct.you need to ground the stator into the orig kill wire from the orig cdi box wire, otherwise when you shut it off only one side quits firing... a TR440 carb swap works, good starting point with a 34mm Mikuni.........this is @ 1100' above sea level.............................................................................. 260 main jet 40 pilot jet 2.0-2.5 slide valve 6DH-4 jet needle (clip 2nd or 3rd from top) Q-O jet needle Air screw 1 & 1/4 turns out An 'S' Nitro motor may require a 270 or 280 main
