Thanks! I tried to get this on here this winter for the 8300rpm challenge but I'm not the best PC guy. The bumper was a NOS piece I wet sanded the hell out of iside and out. A real pain with the grooves. I then poished it with a wheel. There are better pics of it under readers rides. I bet I've got about 16 hours in it and probably double that in beers. I love the 250.. 90 percent of that sled is original including the paint. I need to play with it a little more this winter. It is pretty slow for the HP it should have... I mean slow. Maybe 40. That is with a NOS primary clutch, completely rebuilt secondary, new belt, and the stock ramps. I don't know. Did you check out my Merc video's? Those run real strong. The one that run 84 is my buddy's, mine run 86 about 8 times.

Those 250's will scream when they are running right - they will hit 75-80mph and 9500rpm if you get them clutched properly. Sounds like you either have real low gears for drag racing in it or your clutches aren't working right, should be wayyyy faster than 50mph, that's where it should be just waking up and hitting the torque sweet spot on the pipes! Did you find NOS skis for it?? Wig

I threw every part I had at it last winter and I have a ton of hex stuff. Had no problem making a hex faster than a comet on my merc... It seems real boggy down low, expected for a 250 with big twin carbs I guess. Like I said clutches are mint.. used stock ramps, 5 different springs (all NOS). It would not pull the stock weights to 8300, I had to drop weight. I need to do a compression test on the old girl.. it pulls over real easy but runs excellent and starts first or second pull always. I don't use it much but I's love to give my buddys twister somewhat of a run... It should I would think....

Hey Rog: There's something wrong, that's for sure. I would check that compression - these engines were very prone to cold sieze, and once that happens they will run but won't put out any power because of the compression drop from the rings being screwed. Usually happens on the intake side. Even a leanout burndown will cause the same thing on the exhaust side. If your clutches are good, it has to be lacking the power to shift out or else that little sucker should fly for a 250. Actually, they should handle real aggressive weights in the clutch with a fast shiftout, Comet specs a D weight with a white spring, which is one of the heavier aggressive weights. The Xenoahs are always a pig at the low end, those big carbs and reed valves pull in a ton of fuel. The white spring on a Comet will make it come in at around 5000rpm, that is about where these engines begin to really wake up with the stock pipes, and an agressive ramp/weight will make it shift out faster, but you need the power to do that. If you mod the pipes out, raise that to 6500 or so. Not very practical for the trail, but they launch like a rocket. It will be interesting to hear what the problem turns out to be. Wig

I'm with you on the compression. I keep hearing these motors are strong.. hmmm... There is no way on this planet that mine will pull D weights I dont care what spring I use.. I've tried it. I've had a hex, comet, and a quick shift on it. I tried 440 gears and that is not the answer (though I like to gear up). All I usually do with the sled is drive it on and off a trailer at shows and it starts and runs good. I'll get to it hopefully before the winter, I'd love to see it truck out down the lake. Problem is I have alot of projects. Finishing my 78 skidoo sno pro, 75 F/A Nitro (next), I grass race my 900 cat (next week), fixing the Merc I crashed, and wait till you see this.. We are going grass racing my daughters kitty cat. I've got a 15hp Briggs world motor on it. Need to finish the pipe this weekend and we are shooting for 60mph. I'll keep you guys updated. I don't think 250 pistons and rings are that hard to find. I'll have more video's soon. Roger
