Been awhile great new site. Getting ready to paint a 76 Nitro hood and need paint codes. It was on the old site but is now gone. Also, I lost a crank seal on the PTO side of my 250 liquid. Do you have to split the cases to install this seal?? On my kohlers I do but have heard of aftermarket seals you can put right in. Thanks!!!!

rog929, rupp used 3 differnt red paint codes from 1965 to 1978. all very close in color. a good match to any of these color's is a g.m. paint code wa8774. you can get this color in any paint manufactuer. as far as the seal goes, you do not have to split the case to replace the pto side crank seal. pull the clutch off and there will be a cap with 4 bolts. take the bolts out and the cap will come off wich holds the seal. this is a comon seal i have them in stock if you need. the mag side seal you have to split the case and that seal is a very hard seal to come by. b.s.

Thanks guys, I just ordered the paint and clear and will be painting tomorow. What color primer are you guys using? I know it will change the color slightly. Also we are in a dilema about the "semi flat paint" used on the sides and around the vents. I'm painting a 76 Magnum hood. I've debated just clearing the whole thing and making it gloss. Believe it or not the paint guy said use a quality spray bomb because its tough to mix a dulling agent and get consistant results... Hmmm what would you guys do?

Hi Rog, here's how mine looks, i went all Gloss... That being said, im about to do my 5th Skidoo RV, a 77, the entire back of the cowl/dash is semi gloss black...i bought paint and falttening agent...but....I since changed my plan, im gonna use a Spray bom, already bought the Bom, semi gloss spray boms go on real nice... I heard to that using semigloss agents is trial and error...unless your a pro (?) im not...

Rog, i use the "Paint" software from Microsoft to re size...comes loaded on pretty much all machines. open your pic in the "Paint" application (programs/Accessories/Paint), Click "image" at the top, Click "Stretch /Skew", in the "Stretch" Boxes, change it from 100 to 25 in both Horizontal and Vertical. then save it.
thats what i do....there may be other ways too...

hopefully you guys can open that. I have not been able to get it on here without an attachment. Man, I've got a ton of time on that hood. I had to add an inch to the bottom and fill in the water hose cut outs. I had to raise it for the twin liquid pipes to fit on the fan motor. I've got aways to go but getting closer!! Thanks for the paint code, it looks very nice. I was a little intimidated as I have not done painting since working at a body shop 15 years ago. just like riding a bike. This is what it looked like when I got it.. Check out the running board.
