What type track clip tool is used on the Rupp tracks? I need to replace some clips, but don't know what type to get. Does anyone have one made by Rupp? Post pics? Thanks.

No one has responded to your query for clip info and I'm no expert but you might benefit from what I had to do on a 73 Nitro track that I was prepping to race. It was obvious to me that this particular track had been spun while sitting on top of an object that was making enough contact that it loosened almost every clip on one side. I borrowed a generic clip tool that you can buy from shadetree or any of the catalog companys and bought some of the the only clips that would work. they are "U" shaped and the clip tool has a "die" that presses down and slowly closes the top of the "U". After doing a lot of them by hand (ratchet powered) I noticed that the clips were coming out too "flat shaped and were not closing enough to stay on securely. One spin of the track spit off about 8 - 10 (couple hours work). I tried closing them with huge "channel locks" and the refused to close. Tried vise grips, wouldn't work! Finally, I was at an auto parts store talking to one of the guys there and and he took me in the back room and showed me a tool that they use to work with chains, cutting and closing loops. It looked almost like very large set of bolt cutters and had a section near the pivot point where you could put in a link and close it pulling on the bars. I had a track clip with me and tried it and it was like "butter" and shaped it more roundly than the tool and closed the clip almost fully together. BINGO Not quite by the book, but after each of three race days I checked the whole track and I haven't lost one since discovering this method of tightening them. I think "dealers" have a specific tool for such clips, but the average guy probably wouldn't use one often enough to justify buying one. Gook Luck! pathfinder

I've tried 2 different type press clip tools, neither would work on my clips. I might have the wrong clips. The clips are 1 1/4" long x 1/2" deep.I'm thinking that the clip itself might be the problem, not the tool. The clips were gotten from JR Graham. The top of clip is wider than the finished clip is supposed to be pressed to. A clip on Rupp track,is only 1/2" across on the slide side, the ones I'm using are close to 5/8" or 3/4" across. When you buy the clips for Rupp track, where do you buy them and what is the correct size? Thanks.
