Ok Rupp people,Here is a "new Rupp guy" question for ya.I know I should be flogged for not knowing ,but.....What RPM are you guys spinning Liquid Nitro 440's(stock pipes and ports). Seems as though I see literature stating 8300,but I want to hear from the experts.I'm used to spinning triples to the moon and don't want to make keychains out of Rupp parts(have been known to inflict some violence on some Twisters, TX's, and SRX's) Thanks for any light shed on the subject. Sasquatch.

my super mod 250 l/c magnum dynoed at 10,900 r.p.m's but was faster on the ice at 10,200 r.p.m.'s. i would have to think a full mod 440 would run out at 9500. you and josh are correct 8300 is stock. b.s.

A few easy tricks and a stock 440 will run 9000-9500 without a problem and still put out a ton of HP. I have always run them at this RPM for the lakes, nothing in their class can touch them over the distance. The bottom ends on the 77's are stronger than the 76's, with more bearing surface. Wig

A few easy tricks and a stock 440 will run 9000-9500 That's kind of a paradox, isn't it? A few tricks to a stock engine to make it run 9,500 and it's no longer a stock 440!

Kinda funny how things change. If you sit in on racing stories of "back in the day",You heard everyone talking about spinning them motors as high as we could rev them.I remember my brother throwing the tach he had on the RXL at the shop wall one night because it would keep cutting out the weekend before, and he said that it was just wasted baggage weight and he didn't need it anyway. There was alot of tuning done using the sound and the feel of the engine. Then it seems like in the mid nineties, with the advent of the torquey big twins all the articles preached peak HP and Torque on the dyno and not to spin them a RPM higher or You'll be in the outhouse heat with the Kitty Kats.Maybe, but there will never be a replacement for the sound of those old mills singing at full song.

This subject title gave me an idea. Wouldn't it be awesome if the Message Board would have a Topic that had video and sound of all the different makes of Rupp Snowmobiles ? How do you guys post videos with sound ? Rupp of the week was very cool also. Any chance that this could be brought back ?

A Tach is the key to tuning any engine.

Hey Josh we can bring back RUPP-OF-THE-WEEK no problem! we have to figure out how to organize them, either members can post their own if they want or we can post them It sure was popular before. We'll create the new category and post it when she's ready THANKS, good idea!
