Keihin Diaphram. Number used ........1
Keihin diaphram carburetors were designed for snowmobile use and prior to 1972 production, were available in two series; 406 wich is roughly equivalent in size and application to tillotson HR: and 407 equivalent to HD. Starting with the model year, a new method of identification was used. Model number of all carburetors begins with the prefix letters "CD" followed by a number such as "38 - 28" First part of number indicates throttle bore (in millimeters) and second part of number indicates venturi diameter.
Cory, is this info correct. Dave

That's a rare engine as you know , according to my book it should have Keihin 457A methanol (alcohol) carbs. Rupp part# 18058 (L.H) and #18059 (R.H.) I'm assuming one is slightly richer than the other like a 'doo or maybe a opt. bracket on the other?

I found no info on the SR. I thought the "R" was a possible typo. What did this motor come in? DDI ? Cory, did you go to the college of Rupp knowledge? Dave.

I really want to keep the look of the hd's with the gem's on them it came with 36 mikuni's when I bought it and he gave me the 105A's and said they were the original carb's I know they are not I guess I will just deal with the pain of adjusting them

Please don't think I'm crazy, but I might have access to a couple of the Keihin alcohol carbs... if not, I know where they all went (outside the snowmobile industry) about 20 years ago. Tom G. ...I will check and get back soon.

in the tohatsu line of engines made for rupp there was the standard tr engine's, steel sleeve. then came tr engines in difffernt cc sizes but with a s after the model, example tr440s. s-stands for special and had a chrome bore. this motor came in 71 magnum's, 72 nitro's, 73 nitro's. then came tr cc size with sr after the model, example tr440sr. sr stands for special race. also if there is a -2 or -3 then it means a 1972 or 1973 engine. no - after the engine size means it is a 1970 or 1971 engine. these motors were all available from rupp in rupp sleds from 1970 through 1974. hope this helps b.s.

No luck finding the alcohol Keihins... dead end here. I believe some were sold to Ed Miller at Performance Jet Ski years ago. ? Got a couple NOS 40mm and one 44mm Keihins (gasoline), with HD flange. Tom G.
