Does anyone have a good contact for Genuine Mikuni rebuild kits and carb parts? I know of Fox Distr. out of Chicago, but is there another company that is a bit more familiar with the snowmobile carbs? When I start asking for parts for the Mikuni's with the adjustable mains they are a bit confused.
I need O-rings and other bits and pieces for the 36mm Mikuni's with the adjustable bowl. I also need the small part that threads into the bottom of the needle jet for this carb (I went a little too tight...) I'm trying to rebuild a 36mm carb off of a 340 F/A that looks like it got some moisture in the fuel and then sat for some time. There's a lot of corrosion in the bowl area that I'm trying to clean up. Regular carb cleaner won't dissolve it.

Hi Scott, these guys have brand new oem Mikuni parts, for some reason they don't show the bowls in this new catalog but they did have them complete w/screw and O ring I think they were $40.00? each brand new...The owner collects vintage sleds so he's familiar wiith that kinda stuff, he is Randy at Rec Supply www.recreationsupply.ca/2009/2009-16_Carburetor.pdf

I talked to Randy there and he told me that they have nothing for the Mikuni's with the adjustable main.......
I thought that most of the internal parts for this carb were interchangeable with those of the carb with the non-adjustable main... needle and seat, gaskets, o-rings for the adjustment screws, etc....
Kind of hitting a dead end here. How do you guys rebuild these carbs??

Oh ok I thought maybe he still had, I was looking in my 2002 catalouge ;D This may sound like a butcher but... I cleaned my 340's bowls with ultra fine sand in a blasting cabinet at lower pressure, not hammering in one spot but swishing it around it didn't even peen the surface. I took about 30 seconds and really peeled out the hard shale like stuff then buffed them up abit with some grey scotchbrite. As long as their not pitted too bad where the O rings seal. I seen another cool trick on Smithsonian Ch, this fellow in California that pulls WW2 aircraft from the sea and restores them, they put a piece of "severley" corroded alum in household vinegar for 6 days and pulled it out, looked like brand friggen new.

Scott: The normal Mikuni rebuild kit is fine for the 38mm adjustable bowl carbs, you just have to get the 'o' ring from another source, check out your local auto parts store, they usually have them. While you are shopping for o rings, grab a couple for your fuel pump - you can't get those through Mikuni anymore either. Wig

These carbs are not hard to find parts for.Just start looking in the bone yards etc. For the bowl needle "O" ring use Suzuki part number 13295-33010. dc

Daren - thanks for the advice.
I'm using the standard Mikuni bits and pieces for the rebuild. Those I found through Fox Distributing in Chicago.
The part that's going to hold me up is the piece that turns into the bottom of the needle jet. It holds an o-ring and seats into the bowl when assembled. The threaded end of this piece broke as I was assembling the carb and now I need to find another. This piece is specific to the carb with the adjustable main and I don't have any spare carbs around; I'll need to start searching.

Scott: I am sure someone on here has the part you need - put an ad up in the classifieds, someone will come through to you. The adjustable main carbs are worth waiting for the parts - they are fantastic adjustment tools to have, you just need to be careful not to lean it up too far as the liquids are built real tight and can seize easily in a lean condition. You also have to make sure they are totally warmed up before you step on it at all, they can also cold seize if everything isn't warmed up. Hope this helps. Wig

Brian - Let me know if you have that part that you'd like to sell me. I have been out of town and haven't had the time to post a wanted ad yet.
Again, it's the small piece that threads into the bottom end of the needle jet.
