Did the steel bore TR-440-2 engine use the same (model number) keihin carb as the chrome bore TR-440S-2

It really does not matter (unless you want to make it original) A HD carb is a HD carb. The numbers are for jet location choke throttle location etc.

only if your porting and exhaust can handle it. quote, (it really does not matter, an HD carb is an HD carb.) which is it, both 42MM & 44MM are HD carbs, the 44mm came off a 72 440 yankee, I asked a simple question if it was the same as the 72 440 nitro carb, and I get someone talking out the side of there mouth.
