The photo I had here, was in photobucket.BUT I no longer have photobucket account. THEY will not hold my pictures for a $400 a year membership!!Screw them. This sled started out as a 1970,has some 71 parts on it[skis & springs],has the 72 Yankee seat & back rest. The engine is a 68 or 69.

This POS is going to start it's 4th winter of STILL running. The JUNK $25 engine is still starting, running great! I had a WHOLE $75 in the sled back in 2009!! I still have $75 in the sled, the items that broke were taken from inventory[inventory has long since been paid for]. I'm in the BLACK & lovin' it. This is one of those engines, that had NO spark, can't get the flywheel off for nothing, type of German engineering wonders. The exhaust leaks like a stuck hog,CAN'T get it sealed to save my life. If & when it goes down,I will fix it up & treat it NICE,BUT until then,it gets beat on EVERY winter. The BIGGEST POS,has been my best sled,go figure!! I wonder if it's because I treat it SO NICE!!! NOT!! THIS is the SLED that has kept me going! ;D

Been running this sled pretty hard again this year. Brought it in the shop today & gave it a physical. It flunked!!! Track is junk, but hanging tuff. All the idler wheels & back guide sprocket are bad. The front spindle bushings are falling apart. There is oil EVERYWHERE!!!BUT the engine still runs GREAT!! AND the first drive sprockets[white one] that seacoastrupp machined, still looks like NEW,VERY little wear,if any!! ;D And that hard, machined sprocket hasn't busted any drive bars in the 40 year old track. That's 3 yrs on the white sprocket! Good product Joe!

Brought sled in last night to get accustomed to the temp in garage, about 50 or so. Ok,pulled the cover off the chaincase, top nut on gear had loosened up. The shaft through the sheaves was quite loose!! I checked EVERYTHING really good. There was lots of damage, but it was ONLY 1 days worth!! The inside sheave[closet to the chaincase] had a very bad key way,3/4's of key was bent over barely holding it in place. Outside sheave with helix, had BAD,loose rivets. I REPLACED the 6 rivets that held it together. Replaced one bad bearing in the eccentric, put a CASTLE nut on shaft, good used seal between eccentric & hub,1-NEW brake pad,new oil in case. Test ran in shop, ran great,no more vibration. When I did this rat, back in 2009,I checked everything & replaced parts as needed. What happened,is part of snowmobiling. Sled is ready, will go out tomorrow for a good, hard test ride!! WOW!!! I checked the odometer today, put on 18 miles yesterday!! I feel like I've been run over by a tank.

Took the rat out today,I finally put her down. After 4 yrs of very hard riding, the track finally let go. The snow got sticky today & starting building up underneath in the tunnel.Must have been too much drag on it. I guess I can now test my idler wheels, back in the shop tomorrow for a different track & new front & rear drive shafts[repop sprockets & new idler wheels,NOT re-lined!!!!].

The Rupp tracks are tough ones!!! I've been expecting it to go ever since I put it together. The wait is over.

Attachment DeletedHeres old faithful stripped down.Still need some parts off it for the new one I built. This sled served me well, for going on 5 winters. The $25 Sachs 297 is still running great. But now it is in a new chassis! The old sprint will get a new life,as a different model, starting this spring.

I finished getting this sled together at about noon. Drove it around the yard a few times, then lost my brakes. The track is running true to the tunnel/drive windows. Had to adjust the hood also. The suspension seems to sag some, not alot of travel.Might have to move the rear spring brackets more toward the front. It handles pretty good, but steering is a little tough. I'll ride it the rest of the winter & look at it more this summer. I'm happy with the outcome. Also had to fix the speedo right angle.I had it apart & put it together so it took miles off.Its good now. I have to make a boot guard next. Then its ride it time.Too COLD to take pictures. It's no longer a rat,its a ditch banger now.Thats the only place we have snow.It NO longer sits outside, has a nice spot in the garage.

I just sold this sled in January.Didn't really want to,but lack of snow, helped with the decision. I still have my 71 Rupp Sprint 44[has Yamaha 396 in it] & also I reclaimed a 71 440WT with electric start. These are my 2 riders. I have 6 sleds, but will thin the herd more, next winter. Then I will make decision on what to keep.I know,I will keep the 70 Magnum 440WT & the Yamaha powered Rupp.
