Suspension & track are in. Front/rear drive shafts, all new bearings & seals. The track is Scorpion, frt shaft/drivers are 74 Nitro[green]. Secondary clutch rebuilt, new bearings. Chaincase cleaned, then replaced,bearing/seal area was cracked big time. Inventory found another, used the 12 tooth on top,28 tooth on bottom. New brake pads were also installed. Has self adjusting brakes. Very interesting!!!! ;D
The plastic gas tank was welded by ddub, over on the vintagesled site! The welds then were re-inforced with stainless steel mesh! The steering is hooked up & circuit board is cleaned & installed.

I have no experience with this motor either but that is how a kohler will act if the plug wires are reversed. Have you tried switching the plug wires around? Just a thought.

Did you try starting it without the exhaust on ??

I lit the exhaust on fire!! It has good flow through it. When I first got this sled,it had sat for awhile outside. I got it home, shot some gas in the carb & it ran,as long as I sprayed gas into it. I took sled completely apart,CLEANED the engine & after that it starts really hard or not at all. So,I really don't know what is wrong at this time.

Is the choke stuck open ?? How familiar are you with mikuni's ?? Did you spray carb cleaner through the holes in the bell of the carb ?? Carb cleaner has to come out the little pin holes in the part of the carb where it goes into the rubber flange. Did you put a new needle and seat in the carb ?? If it is shot your motor could fill up with gas. With spark plugs out cranking it over is there a mist coming out of the heads ??

The Mikuni carb was taken over to a fellow sledder who is a small engine mechanic. He goes through all my carbs. I don't know what he did to the carb. One thing I have noticed,is that there is no gas moving through the gas line to the carb, when I'm trying to start it;or does it only move when its actually running??? Just about ready to take the engine out & pressure check it. I'm stumped.

These things sure are fun !!! Been there done that ! Mine end up on shelf LOL Al, you mean you aren't running a Xenoah engine either? Almost tempted to put a 340 Tohatsu in it,but don't know how to hook up an engine from 73 to a 76 circuit board. I guess I have all winter to think about it!

Sure sounds like crank seal is bad on either side. Well if u sprayed some gasoline and will fire right up til burn all the fuel off, will it stay running or just die? Bad crank seal will give poor vacumm to Carbs. Also will make poor pressure to fuel pump if its bad. Fuel pump will pump the fuels and feed to Carb while pulling it over. crank seal will rotted out easily if it haven't been used for long period time. Like 5 years. Take the clutch off and see if u can see cracked or gap between the shaft and seal, also pull it over without spark plug, (for easier to pull) and see if u feel any air coming out. Hopes this help.
