Well today Dad and I went to Curtiss for the snow drags. Dad brought his 340 72 Nitro and I brought my 340 Mod 76 Magnum and 440 Mod Magnum. Dad's first heat race wasn't good. He slept at the line and had to play catch up. By the time he left the line he was probably 10 sled lengths hehind. He almost got up to 2nd to get to the final but just couldn't get there in time.
My 76 340 Magnum made it to the final and took 4th place. We went out yesterday on the test pond to play with dads 340 and my 340 and everything went like crap. I knew I needed to make gains for today but that didn't work out at all. After this winter this chassis is going to be scrapped.
In the 440 Mod classes there was alot of new stuff there. And very fast.
In Mod Vintage 341-440 I placed 2nd in the final to a Ski Doo 77 Pro Mod 440 from what I was told it was. Never heard of such a thing but whatever. He beat me by maybe 2-3 inches.
In Mod Vintage 441-up I placed 2nd in the final to the same sled according to the people at the finish line. I actually won that race. Even the Ski-doo guy said I won but what can a person do when there are no cameras at the finish line ??
Improved Stock 440 L/C 1st place. Got a good hole shot and noone was even close.
Improved Stock 500 L/C 1st place. Great hole shot again and out ran everyone again.
OPEN MOD 440 the Ski Doo beat me off the line and came into my lane. There aren't any cones separating the lanes so what he did was probably unnoticable. I know if I would of kept on the throttle I would of crashed into him and wiped myself out also. I was on the brakes way before the finish line to not hit him. That made me place 4th place in the final.
OPEN MOD 500 I ended up getting 2nd place to the SRX that won the same class before. Which I beat him twice before. It was pretty much whoever got off the line first and kept on pulling hard won the race. I don't feel bad at all for how I did. I knew my 340 needed some work but from what it was doing on the test pond yesterday I think it is done til I put the whole thing on a different tunnel and bulkhead. My 440 was running dead on but different lanes resulted in different results. Lane 1 was BAD !! It was like digging out of a trench off the stating line. But anyway I beat every 440 sled that was there. And I was beat by the same sleds in other classes. We Had a heck of a good time !!!! But I can't wait to get back on ice !!!!
