I have a Sprint 29 which I am running a sachs 290ss with a comet duster clutch on it. I am real happy with the clutch set up, but there is a race coming up and they do not allow the duster clutch in the stock class main event. I have a Rupp clutch with the 30 mm tapered bore but the top of the sheave hits the intake port on the head before it is tight on the shaft. I am just curious what my options are, I would really like to get the Rupp clutch on the sled. Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks Chris

Thats pretty normal. Alot of the 290ss and 340c motors I have had, had a grove on the outside of the transferport.

My transfer port does have a groove in it. I was just wondering if there was a clutch with a bore that is shallower. The comet have shallow and deep bores and also different offsets.

the 30mm & even the 25mm with 1:10 taper bore,is the shortest they use. Remember that Comet had to fit alot more applications than Rupp did.

I know on my 290ss I had to have my back part of my clutch turned down. That was my 94 duster I think you could do the same for the Rupp Clutch. I have a Motor on the bench and will see what it would take.

Chris, I am going to "the sled yard" today,, I will grab some options for you, I've got a few 290s up there. Also going to check on the 1 lunger rules thing there.. That rule change came late, alot of guys are going to end up running Mod class and are going to be outgunned. They currently have no snow there now and forecast doesn't look good. Knowing these guys they will hold the race anyways, like the year they raced in 6" of mud. test n tune is next sunday I belive and pre registration... Call me/ will call you

Looks like you will have to turn down the back of the clutch a bit, just were the transfer port is touching... Got a good look at a "C' motor and that was what was done to get that to work.. As far as The 1 Lung Race in Turner Me. the director got in touch w/ me on this and they will be racing and have snow guns.. They didn't even need a background check to get them,,,LOL
