It's my understanding that they are the same. Carburation, valves, and exhaust were the only differences. If you want to email me, I can forward your enquirys.

They are not the same. They look somewhat similar, but are not. I don't think very many parts on the Chap engine are correct for the Rupp engine.
Who has them...? Dana Bachmayer?

There is a guy close to Green Bay that has some. I bought a 340 - it is definitely a Chappy engine. You may be buying from someone else....??

Dana Bachmayer - there's a name I haven't heard in awhile. I bought a bunch of stuff off him a couple years back, is he still selling Rupp parts?

Yes, they used a 340 F/C, Chappy engine in 76, in the sport. They just put a sticker over the Chappy one under the carbs on the block. I don't know if the 500 F/C they used in 78 was a left over Cappy or not, I've never seen one, only in print.

The cranks are different in each motor along with many other specs. Xenoahs for the Rupps put out a lot more power.

Well, bankRUPPt, you caught me. It was Dana that I got the motor from. It just arrived here in Canada today. Only 4 days via UPS ground and less than $100 from WI. No taxes, no broker fees. If anyone wants one, better call him. He's only got a couple left. 1-715-687-8328...Thanks again Dana.
