I really didn't feel like doing much today, being Memorial Day & all. But I looked at this engine taking up space on my stool & decided it was time to re-do the Rupp engine mount. So I did.I will fine tune the mount later today.I'm also trying to see how things fit & what I have to do to get this installation to work & look ok.So far,I think it might work. It was really humid today, not much got done.I did make a list of things that must be done to make this swap work. The track turned today for the first time, sounds good, needs just a tad of adjustment yet. Love it when this comes together & you know deep down, that it will WORK!! That is a GREAT feeling.

Pre-fitting takes extra time, when swapping tracks & engines. It's well worth the time.No surprises during final assembly. I'll be using the complete Polaris wiring harness, wires will be removed as needed & be lengthened as needed.Just have to figure out the best way to run the wires,so they are out of harms way.

Today ,I went to garage & pulled the engine.I re-did the engine mount holes. I always work off the 2 holes on the clutch side when I mount different engines in my Rupps. I used the stock holes & mounted the engine, belt was TOO lose!! I thought about it for a day or so,today I moved the holes over 1/2",toward the driver. Then measured off those holes for the back ones[by the recoil].Polaris holes are 6" from side to side,Rupp is 6 1/4".They were the same the other way,3 3/4",center to center on the holes.Welded up some EXTRA holes in mount & modified the mount some on the recoil side.Got everything welded & installed the engine,WORKS great!!BELT IS JUST RIGHT!!! Next I will work on the clutch guard,Polaris runs a very wide clutch,so I guess I start with another steel Rupp guard. That's it for today. Time to go out & eat. Just got back from the buffet at Pizza Ranch, yikes,I ate too much! BUT IT WAS GOOD!!!!

Moved the coils from under the carbs over to the recoil side.Bracket attaches through recoil mounting bolts. Exhaust pipe/muffler wore a gash into the recoil cover. Decal taken off,the gash is ground some,& some wonder plastic put over it. Recoil is done, painted gray "hammertone"[looks like fisheyes]. Also clearcoated. Welded 2 brackets on,just below the tach,to mount the choke & cable.

The color theme on the hood/bellypan=satin black, for ease of touching up. The "Stealth" effect!! I know, you are disappointed, you thought I was going for some other shiny color, like metal-flake. Nope, what you see,is what it is.

I'm not disappointed. Looks great to me and i like the idea of easy touch ups. Becasue you know that's going to get scratched to hell That said, metal flake would be easier to find when it's upside down at night lol

I worked on this sled today. Pulled the engine & cleaned it up. Painted the engine mount, exhaust pipes & muffler, the coil mount, & the handlebar support. Worked on the secondary clutch[bearings & cleaned both sheaves],rebuilt the brakes & adjusted, patched the muffler exhaust hole on the tunnel. ALSO,re-arranged the garage to get some much needed, extra space. The stuff that was lying around, was put away,FINALLY!!! We have 2 more days of NICE weather, then the weather turns for the worse. Highs in the 50's.Brrrrrr. I'll put crank seals in before I put it in the sled!! It runs OK,but I want to keep this engine in one piece,at least for this winter.

Made some wear bars today. These are 69 skis,so I think I'll put them on the 69 GT300.

I have to get started on the hood for my 74 nitro II its in rough shape. Luckily no cracks but the paint job somebody gave it was terrible, it feels almost like wax and it doesn't like to sand off.
