We have NO snow for riding,so I'm going to build another sled. What engine is going in? ?? I don't even know. Some choices are:1972 Nitro TR295S,TR340S-3,TR295S-3,TR440,,a Hirth,a Polaris FA??? Track will be involute Scorpion. It will have no time limit as to when it will be completed.

Sure why not.Vote away,if you think it will help with the engine selection! I will be working on the tunnel & putting track in.BUT before I start on this,I'm helping a neighbor take the corregated siding off his qounset. I need some for the roof on my "other" 10x20 shed. This stuff is 26" wide X 7' long.Nice stuff.I'll probably take as much as he says I can.It will cost me a few hours of work,BUT it's FREE!!! What I don't take, goes to the recycler.

Free is the best price! I really like how peppy my 295 Nitros are...I would use the '72, just because it's a points motor...that's my vote! BTW, I think I got the ROF GT suspension figured out...turns out the rear swing arm was seized and not "swinging", which affected the rest!

Ok,the tunnel is off a 1971 Sprint.I'm fitting the 1970 lower fiberglass panel. Also took the engine mounts off,the rivets went from top to bottom. Also replaced bad rivets with new,as needed. I like the rivets to go from bottom to top.Less chance of track catching on them.

I'll use the best one of these two. This setup is JD. There is a lip on outer edge of track, the outside idler wheel, runs against the inner part of the edge, kinda keeping track in place. Front drive shaft with involute drivers.More grinding needed on the center weld. These drivers were bored out,a shade less than 1 1/4",to fit the shaft[fairly tight],will slide with use of hammer. These will be bolted with grade 8 bolts/locking nuts. The lugs need to be timed before I drill bolt hole. P.S. That weld is left after cutting the driver mount off!!!

Thanks Jerry!! By the way Jerry,YOU are doing some mighty fine work on your resurrections. I guess I just do what it takes to get these sleds back together,& yes,I mix & match parts from various years.. I put these sleds together,so they run good, look ok & most of all,I do it MY WAY!! I'm glad I can help in some small way, when it comes to Rupps.

I have to move this bogie wheel mount in,to get wheel away from the track lugs.Cutting it off. After cutting both side welds,I'm breaking mount free with a hammer. It is still welded on the end. All the mounts are cut,now I have to move them in & weld them. Got all the inner ones moved & welded.

Today I mocked up the rear drive shaft setup.Using new JD idler wheels on the Rupp shaft. Also had to extend the bearing cap by 3/4",making it same length as JD. I could have shortened the JD shaft & recut the end for the bearing,BUT......... I guess I could have used the stock bearing housing. I'll leave the extended ones in,BUT will have to modify the last set of bogies,AGAIN!!!`

The track is hangin' between the front drive shaft & rear drive shaft.Tomorrow I put the bogie assemblies in. That track fought all the way.

Got all the bogie assemblies in & track adjusted. I had to move the outer bogie in some also. Now I can work on getting the engine mounted. I think I'll use a twin carb,FA engine. It's waiting on me.
