Bought a 440 Nitro and cannot get it to run. Has spark and great compression, previous owner said it ran. Does anybody have any ideas?

If it's been a while since it ran your carbs may be plugged with gunk.

OK...next would be fuel pump diaphram cracked or fuel pickup in tank lifted off of the bottom of the tank. Pinched fuel line also comes to mind. Keep us posted.

Also a bad ignition coil will fire a plug when plug isn't under compression but not when plug is installed in the engine..........been there done that with a 77 440

Sounds to me like the engine is full of gas too. Pull the spark plugs and pull it over a few times. You should see a mist spraying out if this is your problem. If this is your problem your fuel pump is junk. No mist spray
