I seem to notice that my secondary clutch has some play and I was wondering if there is any bushings that I could get to take the play up. The clutch itself is good and tight but it seems to wobble on the chain case.

In my experience almost ALL Rupp secondary clutches will have some play/movement in the bushing. I have owned many nos secondaries over the years and even the new ones had some play. About all I can suggest is to keep your eye out for other good, used parts that might be better then what you already have. The bronze bushing in the moveable sheave is replacable,....if you can drive the tiny roll pin out. Another option would be to have these bushings custom made at a machine shop out of aluminum.

Sounds to me like the entire shaft has some play in it. There are 2 bearings that keep the secondary in line. One sealed bearing on the clutch side of the chaincase and another larger bearing inside the chaincase that is part of an assembly with a castle nut. That nut may have become loose and causing your slop, or maybe your bearings aren't in great shape. I know without the inner bearing and nut tight my 73, it has a lot of play on the secondary.

I appreciate the help guys. I haven't taken it apart yet but I will check with the first when I get back in the shop. How strong is the chain case and secondary?
