I thought I would start posting some pics as I start to assemble this project. I don't have any before pics, but this motor was filthy. I bead blasted the cases, put two very clean cylinders and heads on and had to order rings and gasket set from Skiroule Pete(very nice guy to deal with). This first pic you can the motor is awaiting pistons.

Sweet project! Is that bulkhead widened?

Yes, widened to 36 inches to accept the extra wide panels. Was going to do a 72 nitro but changed my mind. I had almost all of the parts done and painted for the 72. My dad is the lucky recipient of all those parts. Changing it to a 71 with a narrow free air hood. Finally started to make some progress. It started as a show sled, but show sleds cost way too much if you don't have the correct parts. As you can this sled is a combo of years. 73 bars and steering, 73 mag tank, 73 chain case, kimpex track, 71 seat, 71 FA hood, 71 tunnel and brackets. Should be cool when I am done. My goal is to have less than $1000 into this build. This does not include the parts that we already had. I can't wait to get the motor in and fired up. Not sure on pipe configuration yet, ram horn or old 800 magnum looking pipes. I will do a compression test on this motor as well. I can't hardly pull it over on the bench.

Go with the expansion! Let that bad boy breath! Where did you get the aluminum carb blocks to fit those flanges?

My dad picked them up somewhere. I think we have another set?
