If it sat on the floor or sat closed out of the bumpers for any period of time it would sag and get wider. Fiberglass actually doesn't hold it's shape perfectly well when there's nothing to support it. If it's too wide, just squeeze it together and set it down inside the bumpers. It may eventually start to retain the shape. I would rather have the hood fit like this, it gives a clean finish around the bumpers instead of a gap.

Fan: I have a NOS hood for a '76/77 Mag/Nitro, (actually I have a couple of them) and it sat flat on the floor for a few months - did the same thing as what you are talking about. Fortunately, these were such thin fiberglass that it conformed back to original shape with no problem, the f/a's were a little beefier on the glass. I think Bank is right, once you get it where it goes it will pull back a bit and fit a little better. I do see a lot of the f/a's with little spider cracks in them, tho - hope yours doesn't do the same after that hot paint job. Wig

I would have never thought that ! Dave.

Its going to take more than a few days for the hood to take shape. It might take several years !!!! IF it ever takes a narrower shape. I don't see it taking a narrower shape unless it is squeezed narrower than what it should be and held at that shape for quite a while.

I wouldn't go squeezin' on the hood just yet...
Got an idea, measure the inside distance between your bumpers at the very front. Give us the measurement.....Looks like your lowers and nose are reproduction? How 'bout the hood?

Fan, give it time. My 250 I did 2 years ago was the same way-original hood repop lowers-poor fit. Hood would not sit down on the lower panels like it should. After being in place a few months it just falls right in place. Joe
