Attachment DeletedI dressed it up like one. I started this thing about a year ago and finally finished it up today. Lucky for me the designer/builder was still alive to help me out with some of the stuff that was missing. Some was still a guess as he couldn't remember all of it. Like he said "Crap, that was a long time ago". Joe

Hoots, That's actually the air intake for the carbs. The faster you go the more air pressure it builds then at about 3/4 throttle the jet for the injector opens up. Here's a better pic of that area. Joe

It was built in the early 80's. Yes, it was raced. Joe Marshal said he remembered seeing it at the Nationals when they were racing their 75FA. It is strictly a drag sled. Frame is 1/2" chromolly tubing, axles and shafts are titanium. Tracks were made from a 76 magnum track by removing center window. Joe

Joe so I take it your not going to ride that this year on the relic ride? Bummer... It sure looks 100% nicer then the last time I seen it.
Fantastic looking pipes who built them?

I was able to see the sled today at the national show for the first time in about 5 years. Joe it looks VERY nice all redone. Of course I like the new color scheme better that the original (though the orange/yellow fit for the time frame of when it was originally built) I would like to see the smile the first time you light that thing. OH, and the black Magnum looks even better in person than the photos I've seen. Nice stuff Joe.

Well, we just got back from the National show and we had a great time. We didn't have any luck winning a trophy with it but did get an awful lot of nice comments about it. Also got to meet up with Greg Gosney(designer-builder) and got him to sign it and sit in it. Glenda took a bunch of pics, when she gets them downloaded i'll have her put one up. I need to thank the guys that helped me out with this project. The Rupp Shop for the great job on repairing the glass, making exact copies of the hand lettered decals and paint. Thank you Bill. Blueleader for a great job making a new set of pipes to replace the swiss cheese ones for it. Thank you Jim. Pipestone Small engine for fixing a busted carb and cleaning and rebuilding them while they were there. Thank you Kevin. T N T vinyl design for rebuilding the what appears to be a near impossible tach to find for it. I had a lot of people ask "where did you get that tach". Thank you to all. Hope I didn't forget anyone. Jeff, soon as my back is up to it I will be putting it in the shop and yanking the engine out so I can replace the junk clutch I had to put on it for the show with a nice one I found in the swap. OH YEAH, you can bet i'll be smiling then! We didn't come home empty handed though. There were only 5 Rupps in the entire show but 2 of them won their class. Glenda and I won the 75 and older Race Restored with our 800 Magnum. I will let the other member tell you about his win. Joe

I bet ya can't grab that one by the nose and pick it up with one hand. You can with mine. Aerodynamics are lacking also but ya gotta give the guy credit it is creative. Most guys would never even attempt a project like that. Joe
