Hey guys I have a Kohler 295-2ax and I am in need of piston and rings...problem is I can't seem to find any good deals on stuff or really much parts for a 295...will 340 cylinders bolt right up? Like if I would use 340 top end on the rebuilt 295 bottom end? Any help is appreciated because there is so much more available for the 340-2ax engine wise and I know the gaskets are the same...thanks!!

The 295 & 340,have the same stroke, should use the same case,I don't see why the 340 jugs/heads won't work.I'm not saying they would bolt up,but common sense tells me it should. You would gain 4hp by using the 340 stuff. Why not just start with a 340?
