Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help out by giving me the acceptable compression ratio numbers for my Nitro. Thanks much!

Just wanted to add that the sled was running great. All of a sudden while riding it started running poorly as if on one cylinder, or I blew a head gasket. Good spark. no obvious head gasket problems visible. It does back fire on occasion when I start it now as well. Other than checking spark this will be my first step in diagnosing the problem. Thanks!

It will run alright on 100 but 120 to 135 is better. If it's below a 100 you have a piston or ring problem or both.

mrrupp1...Thanks for the quick reply!
I have 120L and 130R. Time to pull the carbs I guess.
Anyone know of a good link or thread for tearing down Mikuni slide carbs?
Thanks again.

It will run good with that much compression. The carbs are pretty simple to tear apart. Get a can of automotive spray carb cleaner, and an air compressor so you can blow all the ports out and you will be fine. There are some O-rings you will need to replace. One that the bowl goes over, and the one down in the bowl jet. Just go match them at an auto parts store or at a hard ware store. Just make sure they can handle gas. The bowl gasket you can usauly use over,if you can't just make a new one.
Hope this helps. Clint
