Got another question about the spark plugs, are BR8ES the right plugs for the K440 or would I wanna go with something else? Having a hard time finding information on it.

Rupp wanted surface gap plugs in the Kohlers and Liquid Xenoahs. The NGK number is BUE and the Champion number is N-19V. Most everybody now run NGK BR-9ES or B-9ES. Either plug will work. I like the BUEs in both the Kohlers and liquid Xenoahs, unless I'm racing then I use a different plug.

Now im looking for a new part my recoil assembly got way too hot and broke pretty much everything that was part of it. Does anyone have a recoil assembly for a K440-2as or know of an aftermarket option that would fit? imgur.com/a/ISFwaBM

On the right angle speedo drive, it's probably gummed up with old grease. Mine on my Nitro was seized up, couldn't turn it. Gave it a good shot of penetrating oil and let it sit for a day or two. Flushed it out again and let it soak. A day later it now turns smooth as silk. Time and P'Blaster is your friend here.

Cant believe how much dirt was inside of it.

The 76 nitro liquid cools have a very good top end. Rupp claimed they would run 80 mph in the quarter mile. If your only getting 40 mph out of it, there is definitely a problem with it. Clint

Clint Realized I accidentally put nitro instead of rally just changed it. Was reading something so had the nitro on my mind.. Do you know what the rally would do?

Here in Colorado on a lake at 10,000 feet altitude, I've had my 75 440 nitro fan cool ( Which is the same sled, just different hood ) 65- 70 mph. Now that's what the stock speedo said, and we all know there not the most accurate. But it should definitely run faster then 40mph. The engine needs turn 6800 to 7200 rpm. The biggest change I did to mine is dump the stock clutch. I've used Comets 94C or a Duclo's works good also. I oval race a 75 nitro fan cool and I run a Comet 102C on it. But takes a little work to make those miss the steering.

Dont know if its reading right or if something is just bad. Also my track came apart today for those do you need to look for old ones or are there new tracks that fit fine?

imgur.com/a/6yyUOFK this is what happened to my track. Is the 1976 rally track 121x16.5x2.52? Will a 15 inch wide track work on it?

You can use a late model track off a Polaris, Yamaha, etc. The late model tracks have the same measurements the Rupp track does, but is only 15 inches wide which works fine. You want to find one with a 3/4 lug, the only other thing you want to make sure is the track you find has the same slider spacing that Rupp uses. Which most of them do. To make them fit your Rupp, you have to move your swing arm bogeys in so they run inbetween the the inner cogs. Then move your drivers in to use the inner cogs. I've done this to 2 of my Liquids cooled nitro's. Ones got a Yamaha and one has an inch lug Ski-Doo. They work great. Give me a call if you have any questions. 303-795-8990 Clint

Found a few tracks near me that I was looking at but realized both my "bogie brackets" as the manual calls them have broke so I havent bought a new track yet. Dont have a lot of money so just been debating if itll be worth fixing it all. Dont know if youll be able to help with this (sorry it may be a stupid question) but at idle with out the belt on the clutch should not engage should it? Its idling at about 1000rpm and it opens quite a bit. Wondering if maybe that is part of my problem with only reaching 40mph. Took it apart and it has a orange spring in it with pucks not really sure what I should do as its my first snowmobile and first time dealing with these clutches.

No the clutch shouldn't engage at a 1000 rpm. You really shouldn't run the the engine without a belt, bad things can happen. First of all I need to know what clutch you have. From your description it sounds like a Comet 94C, or does it have the stock Rupp clutch?

That is correct the primary is a Comet 94c. Has an orange spring in it and 6 pucks.

Comet 94Cs are good clutches. They take away a little top end, but work very well. When I run a 94C on a 76 Rally. I like the clutch to come end around 3800 to 4200, and full up shift by 6800-7200. I run an orange spring and 6 pucks, but I don't remember which pucks I used. I will look around and see if I can find my notes on what I used.
