That's AWESOME Josh! I bet you'll get lots of requests for HP #'s for all the Rupp models now ;D I wished I was closer!

My dyno numbers weren't what I hoped for today. First run I had 70 HP. It was so rich that there is a foot long puddle of oil under the pipes. I didn't really have alot of time to play so I just turned the Bowl Adjustment screws all the way in. I got 13 more HP after I did that and its still WAY RICH. I really don't want to play with the jetting in this crappy warm rainy weather. I want to get some precise readings in the cold weather that I normally race in. I'm a bit skitish with it yet. In winter temps I have 1/4" of piston wash. Now the pistons are complete wash. Plugs are black now and in winter they are just the slightest tan color. THE FUN HAS JUST BEGUN !!!!!!! LOL !!!!

Josh: When you get 20 degree air you are going to push 90hp+. 83hp in warm air with rich jetting is real good, actually. That thing must rip. What was the rpm at when you hit the 83? Just curious, not looking to steal secrets. Wig

After some thought I realize I messed up with setting up the dyno. I planned on running it outside where it was 42 degrees outside. This is what I set the computer to. Right before I ran the dyno it started pissing outside. SO..... I set it up in the shop which was about 53 degrees. So I'm sure that threw off the HP a bit. But as far as 90+ HP goes. I'm still hoping it will be closer to 100 HP. I believe it was 8200 RPM's where it hit 83 HP. I want to dyno it when its about 10 degrees or so outside. I can't see changing my jetting around when its not the right outside conditions in the first place. I never run it in that temp. What do you guys think ??

If you jet it correctly for any given temerature, you can determine what it would be at another temperature with the same absolute pressure and vapor pressure.
This is why you should correct your readings ,when you use your dyno, with the dyno correction factor. That way you can actual see improvements when you perform mods, no matter what time of year. Not just see what peak horsepower you can get! So if you perform a mod in the summer, dyno it, correct it and record it. Then you can compare numbers if you have to change that mod in the winter.
You'll learn too how to get fake numbers...Heat up the pipe quick, do a pull while the engine is still cool. Inflated number. Warm up the engine, let the pipe cool down, do a pull, smaller number. I'd wear one of those out!!!!
The difference between a 40 degree day and a 20 degree day would be 2-3 horse.

I understand the difference between a 40 and 20 degree day. But I'm so damn rich I'm not getting a good dyno reading from the get go. I gained 13 HP from being super rich to still super rich. So I really do think theres still alot left on the plate. Do you agree ? Theres so damn much stuff to try now !!! I'm even going to try mixing different octanes. I have 2 other heads to try also. Both have had the domes reshaped. This will be interesting.

Well I just had a bit of fun this morning. It was 25 degrees here this morning so I wanted to run it a few times. Well I came up with 88 HP now. I was by myself again. So I didn't have anyone to help watch the EGT. So I didn't get to jet it down. The left cylinder barely hit 1000 degrees. The right hit 825. Theres still over 1/2 inch of piston wash. I can probably jet it down 40 or 60 jet sizes and still be safe. I just don't wanna burn it down. Its tough trying to watch the EGT's while watching th DYNO computer. I still think that 100 HP is what I'll hit when the temp outside is where I had it jetted to all last winter. Plus i think it can be safely jetted down from where it was in bitterly cold frigid air.

I don't have a printer. I just replay the run on the computer. Found out why the one side is so different from the other !!! Throttle Valve was hanging down a 1/8th inch at WOT. I feel like writing HORSES azz on my forehead now !!!

The motor that I've been dynoing is in my race sled. I'm really not willing to try all kinds of different stuff with it because its dialed in real good. I'm just wanting to see what its putting out for HP. The motor that I built over the summer which is a copy of this motor is the one that I'm going to experiment with.

Josh, bummer that you pegged that new dyno and broke it....I told you you didn't get 1 with a high enough HP rating!!!

Alright, cold weather is here. That's what was holding back your numbers before, right? What's the latest pull up to?
