Remember the 1971 Rupp 440 Magnum I found a few years back in a Barn........
Remember the Stud Boy Sled....
Remember the Rover Sled......
Well here it is....SHE'S FIANALLY DONE.....MY NEW 1971 RUPP 440 MAGNUM CUSTOM.......... ;D
Yes it's the Stud Boy 1970 Chassis, also the seat & ski's off the Rover sled I had....
The 440S motor, Hood, Clutch guard, Exhaust, & Aluminum Bumpers are all from the Barn Find Magnum, I got the lower panels from Rick(Snowsnake) and I had the Hood & Lowers Repaired & Painted by the fellow that did my 56 Chevy truck.
I Hashed this over in my Head numerous times which way to go with this restoration, either keep it original or turn the Stud boy into a Magnum, if I went original the only thing holding it back was finding a good 1972 Nitro track, which is almost impossible to find.
Last year Joe Francis and I went thru the magnum motor and it needed piston's and rings, I wanted to test it out in the Studboy this winter at the Jack Pine Relic Ride in the UP of Michigan, if it ran very good, I would keep going with the restoration..... (It ran very good the whole ride).
So I decided to turn the Stud Boy 1970 Rupp into a 1971 Rupp 440 Magnum Custom..... ;D
Since I originally bought the Stud boy sled from Glenda and it was Joe's first Modified Rupp suspension & Joe & I put the time into my Magnum motor, I asked Joe & Glenda if they would take on the Magnum Restoration Project, since I had Gathered all the parts & have very little time to finish it, Joe said (NOT A PROBLEM) he would be glad to do it....
I'm Super happy to have a 1971 Rupp 440 Magnum now ;D, My Biggest-Biggest Thanks goes to Joe & Glenda for helping me see this Restoration thru, YOU BOTH DO EXCELLENT WORK)....THANK-YOU
Just think if Rupp would have made a 12 inch slide rail suspension & a 34 inch ski stance in the day.
This will be a Sweet Rider for the Jack Pine Relic Ride for years to come & Also take to shows....THIS IS DEFINETLY A KEEPER RUPP CUSTOM
